CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

Post by karl » Mon Nov 11, 2013 8:13 pm

There's a top floor flat perhaps phalf a mile from my house, I can see it from my window.

Every year they are the first to put neon decorations in their window, I saw them tonight, they will probably be off by Christmas day as they were last year.

Personally I think it's far too early, my dad never let us do anything until a few days before Christmas when we were kids. Back then it used to take him most of the day to find the fused light, modern technology is wonderful - if one goes out the rest stay on!!!

What does everyoen else think, is November 11th too early?

Far too early Karl. We noticed a house near us last week had a Christmas Tree all lit up outside, isn't it ridiculous? Soon it won't be worth taking them down if it starts any earlier.

Hmmm the day after Thanksgiving here is always the day to start decorating.

November 11th is way to early---we always did our decorations about the middle of December, to make all that effort worthwhile--but I do not have any decorations up now. i just do not think the time will ever come when I want to do it again.

Well this year seems to have started earlier than ever, and some of the shops are partly to blame. They know how a lot of people are struggling right now and they are probably hoping to get early sales instead of competing nearer the day. Some of the bigger stores were decorating their windows last month October, bloody ridiculous, and now the lights have been turned on in Oxford Street, that's the message to start going crazy.
You can tell I haven't got the Christmas spirit yet, and I'm not talking about alcohol. :D :D

L&H having worked in M&S the Christmas items (i.e. boxes of biscuits) started going out for sale in Sepember, it made it seems like a four month Christmas.

Yes, that's how it seems Karl, and rapidly following that in the supermarket you find yourself falling over tins of Roses Chocolates that are stacked up to the ceiling. :)

I buy my big supermarket shop on line these days, and one week about 2 months ago when the delivery arrived, I found I had ordered 10 bars of Dairy Milk instead of one. We are still working our way through them!
They aren't the same either, too thin.

The annual Christmas tree diagonally opposite my house was put up today, let's hope they remember to switch on the lights this year - they had to be reminded several times last year. At the momemt there are no ligts on it, that's someone else's job.

Karl, Cadbury's Fruit and Nut chocolate is one of my favourites too. In fact I devoured half of one this afternoon. :D
Also I managed to get my favourite tins of biscuits today in Tesco's... Mc Vities Classic Milk Chocolate.
I find that most tins of biscuits have several that are left and they are put out to feed the birds. :)
