West Side Story.

We went to see "West Side Story" last night at the Wimbledon Theatre, directed and choreographed by Joey McKneely.
We saw the original movie which was wonderful, but the casting for this show was superb, with soprano Katie Hall and Louis Maskell taking the roles of Maria and Tony. The chorography was marvellous but the show stopping act for me was the hilarious and brilliant performed... Officer Krupke.
They have a lengthy tour all over the UK, and If it comes your way we thoroughly recommend it.

I loved the film too and was looking forward to seeing the live musical but it was booked up about three months before with only a few seats that were sited in the worst places. Hopefully as it has been so successful it wont be too long before it comes round again and we will try to be first in the queue!

Such fantastic music and so many artists have covered many of the songs including our own Matt.

I must watch the dvd as it's years since I've seen the film, will look out for the stage version here.

I'm going to see White Christmas on Monday (it opens this Friday)and it stars Steven Hougton & Graham Cole who was wonderful as PC Tony Stamp in The Bill which is greatly missed.

This is going to give away my age, but I saw the original stage show of West Side Story at Her Majesty's Theatre in 1958, with George Chakaris, Don Mckay and Chita Rivera in the cast. Wonderful show. I still have the programme.

Aaww so glad you loved it ..we saw it earlier i the year and I agree its fab and officer Krupka is hilarious ..West side Story is the best ...also went to Albert hall with live orchestra playing to original film on a big screen ...wonderful ..itching they are doing this again next year but not sure which month

Marian isn't it great when you see unknowns on stage and years later when you read your old programmes realise they are now a huge star.

Don't get too excited Maxine those shows were years agp but yes I have seen my fair share of shows and countries - more then I ever imagined in my lifetime actually.

However I cannot see the resemblance between Frankie Howard and Anthony Valentine, talking of Anthony wasn't he brilliant in Enemy At The Door?.

Also just a few weeks ago I bought the new dvd of Z Cars, some of the episodes had an excellent actor as a guest but he was very young. I felt I should know him and when the cast went up it was Anthony Valentine.

Lol I have always seen some sort of likeness...that's me for you Mum and Dad used to watch those programmes....with him in it ...was he in Colditz ? Vaguely remember him in it ....that's great to see all those shows btw ....lovley memories ....
