David Coleman R.I.P.

Post by john » Sat Dec 21, 2013 5:12 pm

I have just read that the former Grandstand and sports commentator David Coleman had died aged 87. He also presented Question Of Sport for many years too, I didn't realise he would be quite that age.

Peter was asking just a couple of days ago whether David Coleman was still alive, as we not heard anything about him for a few years, but then I saw the news today that he has just died.
The last time we heard him on tv his voice had become rather shaky. He was always on tv in the old days.

Very sorry to hear that David Coleman has passed away. He was a regular and good commentator on sport, but now and then would make some curious comments while covering events like.....If that had gone in it would have been a goal, :) and ...that's the fastest time ever run but it's not as fast as the world record...and he is one of the unknown champions because very little is known about him, but we remember him mainly for his football commentries whenever a goal was scored he would simply say...One -nil. or Two nil. :) whatever the case may be.

Like John I did not realise he was that age either, he seemed to be very well liked and respected. I suppose in the heat of the moment when they make those gaffs they are not really thinking just talking.
