Tonights show was a repeat from September...............hope Dons show's haven't run out yet :wink: ............but Don did say "the unforgettable Matt Monro" for a change tonight after playing Let Me Sing and I'm Happy :)

Dons show tonight was dedicated to Irving Berlin songs, he played Matt singing Lets Face the Music and Dance :)

Have just listened to Don's show on listen again, he played Matt singing the great Softly As I Leave You :D ............Don gave us a very sad story beforehand :( :(

I caught it -hooray--he also said "~the Marvellous much missed Matt Monro". It sounded great, especially affter hearing Michael Ball, who I usually like--but that song did not suit him. Our forum friend Graham sings this, and sounds better than Michael did.

hubby and i thought Michael's version of Walk away was awful....and the others just not a patch on Matt...Mr Ball is usually great and when he sings Empty chairs in Les Mis i never fail to cry ....Softly As I Leave is so moving and i havnt heard Dons story...as you can see some of the lyrics are at the bottom of my posts ....

I think Michael is at his best when in his "Musical" mode---pop songs do not suit him on the whole, there are only a few that I really like him singing.
