I'm wishing Doris Day a happy 86th birthday today. I'll be listening to her music all day. Sarah Kennedy has designated this week 'Doris Day Week' and has been featuring her music in the showtune feature. It's so nice to hear her music on Radio 2.

Yes, Happy Birthday Doris Day. :) There are few, if any female singers of today who are in the same league as her.

Sarah Kennedy said this morning that Doris was either 85 or 87 ! Not sure what is causing the mixup.

On Alan Titchmarsh's show today, he said it was Doris's 85th birthday today.
I looked her up on Wikipedia where it says she was born on April 3rd 1922, which would make her 87. :? :?

Sorry for the confusion. The Ohio newspaper had the day and age wrong. So today's her birthday and she's 87. Well I'm still listening to her CDs and will continue all week-end long. I believe Doris Day ranks second in most number of CDs for me. :)

DORIS DAY

Post by neil dalrymple » Thu Apr 09, 2009 11:59 pm

Hi Everyone,
I have really enjoyed hearing Doris Day on radio all last week. She gave a fabulous and very rare interview to the BBC over 22 years ago. I had it on video (until the tape suffered some moisture) She is amazing. She had not a bad word to say about anyone, she totally respected Rock Hudsons memory and privacy and spoke with real love about him. She adored working with James Cagney and James Garner. She bore Frank Sinatra no grudges after he had her husband banned from their film set! She even wept openly recalling special moments and people in her life. She had and continues to have real class.
