Marian, Yes I heard something this morning on the Filipino Channel this morning. What I never got was why he was give the nickname "The Love Bandit". I found that kind of odd.

I've never heard him called that Eman.

I've added another newspaper article now, I just found out that the other one didn't work when we had a power cut. It was off for nearly an hour, but a lot less time than lots of people.

Marian, this was back in the 70's when he did a Valentine's concert at either the Araneta Collisium or the Folk Arts Theatre. It was kind of a turn off and seemed hokey to me that he was dubbed The Love Bandit that will steal your heart. Poor Jack, I think he was just being a gentleman but one can tell he didn't like it

Thank you for the explanation about "The Love Bandit" Eman. I'm sure it was only meant to praise Jack, but he was very touchy in those days and he didn't probably realise the meaning. He's much more chilled out and laid back these days.
I didn't think he would ever go the Philippines again given his age now, but I wouldn't be surprised if his present wife encouraged him. His fan club in the old days used to be run from the U.S. the U.K. and The Philippines. and he loved the place and the people.
Another reason he hasn't been back in his later years was the hassle at airports. He once had a particular bad time at Hong Kong Airport I believe.
