Hi All, Several singers recorded this oldie, from Frank Sinatra, dick Haymes, both of their recordings made during the musicians strike in the Forties, Michael Buble, and many others including, Alice Faye!!!

This extra clue might clinch it.

The song is on Marians list of songs from the thread (Your All Time Favourite Songs Sung By other Artists) and yes guess who submitted this one.

Hi Lena and Harry---just a wild guess from your clues---although I have never heard this verse with this song---is it "You'll never know".

Well done Marian, that's the one "You'll never know" of course this was a big hit for Alice Faye in the 1943 film "Hello Frisco Hello" and again in" Four Jills In A Jeep". One of our favourite recordings of this song and with the verse included is by Don Estelle.

Your turn Marian. :)

Aha!! Well, as I say it was a wild guess, as I have never ever heard that verse before.

I was listening to a great one on my ipod last night--let's see if I can remember it----

"Folks are blessed who make the best of everything.
Living by their own philosophy.
Everyone who needs the sun must find a way.
And I have found the only way for me"

Hi Robert, yes we are stumped on this one, the words are so familiar too. but up to date there are Twenty Nine songs, so we'll do a Marian on this one and here they are,
SEPTEMBER SONG.
I'LL BE SEEING YOU.
IT'S MAGIC
TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS
DANCING ON THE CEILING
THE LADY IS A TRAMP
OUR LOVE IS HERE TO STAY
WHEN I FALL IN LOVE
I WISH I WERE IN LOVE AGAIN.
ON A CLEAR DAY
CHATANOOGA CHOO CHOO.
SPRING IS HERE.
DON'T FENCE ME IN
MY FUNNY VALENTINE
BLUE MOON
THE FOLK WHO LIVE ON THE HILL
HERE THERE AND EVERYWHERE
LOVE WALKED IN
I'M GLAD THERE IS YOU
IT HAD TO BE YOU.
FLY ME TO THE MOON
THIS IS A LOVELY WAY TO SPEND AN EVENING.
AT LAST
MOONGLOW
MY ROMANCE
WITH A SONG IN MY HEART
IT'S A BLUE WORLD
ALL THE THINGS YOU ARE
YOU'LL NEVER KNOW.

Hi Harry and Lena and Robert---thanks for doing that list--I was going to ask shortly if you would like me to do one, but you have saved me from doing that.

At least it means some can be ruled out. And makes it easier for choosing new ones.

And Robert--although Harry and Lena are very very good-they did not know "My funny Valentine" which I though everyone knew. [Sorry to rub it in Harry and Lena, but you know so many, I'm still amazed you did notknow that one]

Now as for a clue---this is difficult!! [no that is not the clue] :o :o

My version is by Steve Tyrell, and he does sing the intro.I do not know who else sings it.

Also, think of the words of Matts song---"This is the life"---this song is the opposite of that.

Hi Lena and Harry--sorry I thought you said you did not know the verse to "My funny Valentine".

I was at my craft group last night--I am busy stitching some banners for the JM concerts!!!!

Here are the first 2 lines of the song

"Some find it pleasant, Dining on pheasant,
Those things roll off my knife"

Hi Marian, we've finally fell in that Steve Tyrell made up his own verse to "My Funny Valentine" We know this CD of Steve Terell singing Sinatra songs has been recommended. Is it on this one??
Anyway we think the next verse is to the song
"Give Me The Simple Life"
