What Movies Have Been Playing On Your DVD/Video Lately?
Sorry Robert, we were just listing scary films and I'm sure the lovely Broadway Melody films of 1936, 1938 and 1940 weren't at all scary.
Did they have problems thinking up titles in those days?
I will look out for the original of "The Haunting" Gray. The title sounded familiar, but I knew I hadn't seen a film with that title from the sixties.
Wasn't Nicole Kidman in the remake?
Anyway two more scary films, more full of tension and to do with pursuit, are
The Hitcher and Deliverance. Anyone seen these?
Marian

Hi Marian
Nicole Kidman was in The Others - which was really creepy too!
Good suggestion!
I LOVE Deliverance!
A Classic!
Directed by a Brit too - John Boorman.
Plus, the original Hitcher was a darn fine film too.
I'm enjoying all these suggestions!
Silence of the Lambs was a tense film also, I thought.

I love the Hammer films as well, especially the Dracula ones. "The Devil Rides Out" is a super film as well.
Also the series "Hammer House Of Horror".
Apparently they are just making a new Hammer film, the first in over 20 years, I think.

I probably haven't seen either version of The Haunting then Gray. I'll look out for the original.
I agree Silence of the Lambs had a lot of tension.
Can't really think of any more at the moment. My son Chris suggested the Final Destination trilogy, which are quite scary, and gory!
Marian
P.S. Can't leave Jack's film out.. The Comeback.

I very nearly mentioned The Comeback, Marian, but I didn't want you to think i was taking the mickey or anything.
Seriously, I quite enjoyed The Comeback!
The was a US remake of a film called The Grudge several years ago which i thought was super scary.
Also, may I recommend a Roman Polanksi film from '65 starring Catherine Deneuve called Repulsion, which I thought was brilliant.
John, I used to be a big fan of the Hammer films in my youth, not because they were scary, but because the had a certain charm
