DEAR MAXINE

Even though your dear dad
was a Hull City lad,
and the Tigers may play with distinction,
in terms of the Cup
their hopes may reflect the sad
species that's close to extinction.

:(

PS When he comes down from cloud nine I'm sure Robert
will have something to say about that.

Maxine, the Queen, God bless her, continues to endear herself
to us Irish having promised to 'stand alongside' citizens of the
Republic when we mark the centenary of the founding of Ireland
in 2016. Moreover, I think Her Majesty will forgive the Irish bias
contained in the following lines:

EASTER RISINGS

There is a bond in history
of torment and shared pain,
between Our Lord and our country -
from Gehenna we rose again.

Although the uprising was crushed,
the idea was revived;
as resurrection news came hushed,
love's concept had survived.

Hi Robert
Today's league result notwithstanding, the FA cup final, by its
unique nature, is always decided by who the football gods favour
on the day. (Remember Sunderland and Wimbledon's out-of-the blue
triumphs.) That's why I think each side starts with an equal chance
of victory on 17 May.
Let's look forward to enjoying a great occasion on a great day.

I don't know anything about footy really ,gentleman ...but just I'm so pleased for my dear Dad ...( when hubby and i first met..I went to watch Dartford Fc ..I asked at the end ...which colour are we and who won? :lol: ...Hubby said ..maybe you better just go shopping ..I agreed happily :wink: ).

Apparently City had three really good chances in the first half before Arsenal took the lead, if only we had taken those chances then :wink:

Arsenal are obviously the favourites for the Cup, but as you say Keith, it's what happens on the day that matters :)

THE DREAM DUO
(Let me not to the marriage
of true minds admit impediments
)

Neither do hindrances happen here.
This itinerant musical meeting of minds is strewn
only with sprinklings of stardust;
it flies us to moonlight-on-the-pines Georgia
on the wings of an old sweet song;
gently quizzes us on why an April breeze never remains;
why stars in the trees hide when it rains;
casts a blithe spirit in the role of his pigeon cousin,
and reminds us of one blue-clover morning in May.
On route we poke fun at aspirational small fry
and are moved by the lovelorn irony of lost love,
but are compensated by languorous June days
savoured in tranquil Memphis.
We are transfixed by the appearance
of life-defining blue orchids in totally unexpected settings,
and we admire the fluvial grandeur of a lazy river
from the reassuring comfort of an old rockin' chair.

All conducted by an unlikely pair of travel guides
who have made their ever-fixed mark:
an inspired Hoosier songsmith from Bloomington,
and a style-exuding singer from Shoreditch, London.

Our dear friend Marian is feeling blue
And we sit wondering what to do
To cheer her soul
Is how we feel
'Til she gets back on even keel.
