Re: Paul's reference to CD imports being expensive. IN HMV in Oxford Street the other day I saw yet another Johnny Mathis CD of all the songs which are already on the market anyway costing £25! Didn't recognise the label though. These things really are a rip-off. However, it did contain "September Song" and I have never heard JM's version of this as it hasn't been featured on any album released in recent times, but I wouldn't pay £25 just to get it (Matt's I already know).

"September song" by Johnny Marthis was on 2 Lp's--"Romantically" and "The Great Years", neither of which I have converted to cd yet--but I am hoping to get it soon, as I have a friend who is converting all her JM LP's to Cd---after a lot of help from a well known member on this forum--you know who you are--thanks again from us both!!

So do not give up, Jon---you will get it eventually!!

I'm assuming you are still at your old address-if you have moved, either email or PM me.

:?: Anyone still watching season 8 American Idol? Here is my ranking of the top 5:

1. Danny
2. Matt
3. Adam
4. Kris
5. Allison

I wasn't sad about Lil and Anoop leaving this week. They were both pretty weak singers. But in the US, it's Britain's Got Talent that is getting all the media coverage, and not American Idol. Not just Susan Boyle, but young Shaheen and his mother were interviewed on one of the early morning TV shows this week.

I haven't watched American Idol recently, but it's no surprise that Shaheen will get publicity. He's young and is talented and with the extraordinary voice of Susan Boyle... the show needs competition, and there's more to add in tonights show with a Ten year old girl named Holly Steel who is about to compete.

I am still watching American Idil-just saw the results last night-I had guessed Lil would go, after the hammering she has had over the last few weeks. She changed since the first few weeks, not the same girl we saw in the auditions.

I have always liked Anoop-and his voice-and although I had never heard his song before, I liked it.

I am surprised Kris is doing so well, as he seems very ordinary, without a distinctive voice.

I think the final may well be between Danny and Adam, and either could win---very different singers and styles.

You'll love this week's American Idol theme -- standards! :)

I liked everyone's but Adam's Feeling Free -- too extreme and sounding like everything else he's done. Danny was fantastic on Come Rain Or Come Shine. Matt, Allison, and Kris were also very good.

Just watched David Archuleta on Paul O'Grady's programme. He has an album to be released over here soon called "Crush" and he sang the title song.
I think he's also touring here, I think he said he's supporting McFly.

I missed seeing David on the Paul O Gady show-once I realised he was on, it was too late !

I loved American Idol this week--I loved the songs -especially the first 2 "The Way you look tonight" and "Someone to watch over me" --2 of my favourites.

The only drawback, was that although it was a 60 minute show, and only 5 singers, none of them sang the song completely , and verses were missed off!!

I cannot predict who will go---maybe Matt or Alison. It is getting tough.

I like David Archuleta but his music seems to be for teenage girls.

I knew you would enjoy the swing show, Marian. It hadn't occurred to me that they could have sung the full song, without cuts --- and even the opening verse. I love the verses to Someone To Watch Over Me and My Funny Valentine. I always play them! I don't think I've ever heard an opening verse to Feeling Free, The Way You Look Tonight, or Come Rain of Come Shine. (I guess I should scroll through our opening verse game ... that was a fun game. :) )

I believe the theme next week is rock. Good for Adam and Alison, but I think Danny and Kris will struggle. Danny is my favourite now.

I caught the vote off today, I thought Marian would have seen it yesterday, but I won't spoil it by saying who goes. Maybe she saw the show last night and hasn't reported on it yet.
Unlike UK shows, the contestants performances aren't aired again during the vote off, so I have still to hear them sing, but I like the look of Kris, and was pleased he made it through.
I did hear Matt singing 'My Funny Valentine' though. It wasn't the best.

Hi Marian-yes I did catch it last night, but it was about midnight, and I went straight to bed. I was surprised that Alison was not in the bottom 3--she is not a singer that I would ever want to listen to again.

I HATED Rock Week on American Idol this week--the worst week I have ever seen. I did not know any of the songs-nor do I want to--and quite honestly, at the moment I do not care who goes or who stays. !
