Awwww that's lovely
Softly, I will leave you softly
For my heart would break if you should wake and see me go.....

Thank you Eman, L&H and Robert.
The Hoagy Carmichael Sessions, in my opinion,
represent the pinnacle of our Matt's marvellous
oeuvre.

Lovely Keith ...have you ever thought of writing a book of your poems ?

Thanks Maxine, I must say that I am gratified to have paid verse
tribute to Matt's timeless Hoagy Carmichael recordings. Yes, I have
published a book of verse featuring my home town - sample therefrom:

TOWN TO TOWN

From a town in West Cork
where bells steep the streets
in ecclesiastical sound,
to a South Herts. town
whose High Street bustle
is by bells joyously drowned.
From a cattle-mart town
lying, snug, in a picturesque vale
to a market town
standing proudly high on a hill:
my heart is in Barnet now
but my soul is in Bandon still.

Keith Good

PS I continue to harbour an ambition eventually
to publish a book of Matt Monro verses.

Thanks Eman. I hope the descriptions of the towns also
reflect the two countries' relative characteristics.

SUMMER SPECTACLE

Our garden's apple blossoms have deserted their hostess
and laid a pink-white, floral-patterned carpet on the ground,
while on cue her hawthorn understudy appears in flowing dress
on which snow-like blossoms resplendently abound.

Lovely Keith!

I was sitting in our garden today in the sunshine, and a wave of seeds hit the air and spread far and wide, and left a white carpet on the ground. Luckily I don't suffer from hayfever. A neighbour once did and had to cut his lawn after dark!!

OPTIMISTIC OUTLOOK

Do not despair Robert and Marian,
the forecasters promise us some May Day sun
with temperature hovering around 21;
a chance for us those summer glad rags to don.

May day sun is hot and bright here and bad for my allergies. We are in the upper 90's. There are various fires in Los Angeles at the moment and they are hard to contain because of the Sta. Ana winds. Yet really glad that it's a sunny day for my Dad's 83rd and brother's 53rd birthday today. :-) Wish I could send you all some of this sunshine and heat!!!

Hearty felicitations on
the birthday celebrations, Eman.

DIVERSIONS

Reading escapist lines creates a dream
easing the strain of my half-hour regime,
lets me forget I ride a wheelless bike,
and reach the goal of my going-nowhere hike.
(Now I must resist my Bardic mentor -
I'm hooked on iambic pentameter.)
