I was driving so could not really concentrate on the radio although I did hear Matt mentioned, however I checked the Ken Bruce website and Tracks Of My Years this week is Frank Ifield.

OOH Maxine a culture vulture!

I never knew John Suchet presented a radio programme, I only listen to Radio 2, when my late cousin Carol came to stay she wanted Radio 4 and I hadn't a clue how to get it, I got confused when they changed it from the Light programme all those years ago. L&H and the two Marian's will knwo what I'm talking about

I heard it, by a miracle, as I do not listen to radio much during the day-just lucky to catch it-I would never have known t was Frank ifield if I had not read it.

Maxine I like some Classical music too and have several albums and cd's, I've also been to the Opera a few times but not for years. I love the music from Nabucco andenjoy a lot of Verdi's work. Also been to concerts duringj the festivla at the Usher Hall, I saw the conductors Riccardo Muti & Claudio Abbado who died recently, got their autiographs too!

Also a huge Placido Domingo, Fritz Wunderlich & Jussi Bjorling fan. I do like some others but they are my favourites.

I like some classical music--George and I nloved James Last-the light classical ones-very easy to listen to. I guess George's favourite composer was Chopin, followed by Grieg.

As for opera, we also loved "Carmen" , with Maria Callas And Nicolai Gedda. George loved the voice of Maria Callas. We had Carmen as a cd, but also as a set of 4 lp records, which gave all the lyrics in both languages.

I still love the music from Carmen, very recognisable. I also liked it as the film "Carmen Jones"
