As for opera, we also loved "Carmen" , with Maria Callas And Nicolai Gedda. George loved the voice of Maria Callas. We had Carmen as a cd, but also as a set of 4 lp records, which gave all the lyrics in both languages.

I still love the music from Carmen, very recognisable. I also liked it as the film "Carmen Jones"
Awww bless him Marian ...... 8)

Maxine

I am also a huge fan of classical music.
Sounds like you enjoy Opera very much.

Funny you have all mentioned Maria Callas, I was listening to her singing the Aria from La Wally on repeat-play yesterday.
Absolutely gorgeous.

I knew Matt was going to be one of Frank Ifield's picks I saw it in the Radio Times last week was going to put it on the forum but never got round to it, it was a beautiful choice of Franks and lovely words about him as well.

Thank you for the link Gray ...wonderful voice and this link is from Tosca the Opera...she sings of how tormented she is when she kills Scarpio the baddie in Tosca...it's so moving as ive read the subtitles from the 1960s production ...( think it is on DVD or maybe some. More on youtube....) ...l will trawl through the you tube line up,at the weekend :D ...there is a great documentary that was on Sky arts 2 all about her ....they quite often repeat it ...she had quite a difficult life it seems ...and lost the love of Onassis to Jackie Kennedy...an amazing talent and I cant even remember how i first got to know about her ...Tosca is a really easy powerful opera to follow ....and madam butterfly ( miss Saigon musical based on this ..seeing 12 July ..and have done before in the 1990s ...
