Re: JOHN WILSON ORCHESTRA
We taped the programme tonight, due to the footie being on, Chelsea & Bayern Munich but watched some of it in between a break, which just caught Matt Ford and Jane Monheight duettting to the Sinatra classics.... wonderful, and looking forward to to seeing the rest tomorrow.
Re: JOHN WILSON ORCHESTRA
A fantastic concert with marvellous musicians and singers.
It was good to see a smattering of Syd Lawrence Orchestra members who are top of their game.
Russell Bennett on trumpet,Jay Craig and Colin Skinner on saxophone(both equally as talented on clarinet)
plus ex band member, pianist Matt Regan and sometime stand in,the fabulous trumpeter Mike Lovatt.
Also the wonderful trombone playing of Gordon Campbell.
Great singing from our favourite Matt Ford.He has plied his trade starting out with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra under the direction of Chris Dean, branching out as a soloist ,travelling the length and breadth of the country playing at gigs from small to larger venues to whoever would listen to him.
Someone who appreciates the musicians behind him and loves the music he sings. He deserves his success
Thankyou John Wilson for being able to put on an all to rare extravaganza of popular music.

Re: JOHN WILSON ORCHESTRA
Like others, I thoroughly enjoyed the concert and was pleased to see Jane Monheit on stage and in person: not seen her on UK TV before. Good range of music, from the orchestral to the vocal.

Re: JOHN WILSON ORCHESTRA
Thanks Sandra. We'll be watching, even though Alan does have the occasional worthwhile guest on his show I thought the last Two series have been somewhat disappointing, so it will be nice to see Matt Ford appearing and we always watch "The One Show."
Re: JOHN WILSON ORCHESTRA
O.K. FOR SOME REASON HE WASN'T ON TODAY.MUST BE NEEDING TO PLUG MISS SAIGON

Re: JOHN WILSON ORCHESTRA
The scheduling write up may be wrong Sandra as I was getting ready for miss Saigon last week and yet it was on today...
I love songs from Hollywood so that would be great ...I wonder if it will be next week?
Softly, I will leave you softly
For my heart would break if you should wake and see me go.....

Re: JOHN WILSON ORCHESTRA
Sorry to wax lyrical about miss Saigon ...but is a wonderful musical ...some of the songs ..language a bit naughty but that is not the whole story ...it is so lovely ....highly recemmend ....so moving ...I would go as far as saying beautiful ...

Yes, advertising celebs can't always be certain I suppose, but there's always Donny Osmond around.

Re: JOHN WILSON ORCHESTRA
Yes L & H does Donny ever do any work in the States he seems to be here more often than not he was on a radio show this morning and is guest judge on Strictly tonight.

Re: JOHN WILSON ORCHESTRA
Yes, I've been thinking the same Karl. He was also on Strictly last night joining the panel of judges. He even told us on the morning radio that he would be singing "Moon River"
Donny and the family of Osmonds were very popular here in the Sixties.
Maybe there's a better opportunity here than in the States to keep these past entertainers remembered and bit busy in earning a crust.
