David Bowie

Post by Marian » Mon Jan 11, 2016 8:54 am

Another sad loss with the death of David Bowie from a long battle with cancer.
His ex-wife Angie is in the celebrity big brother house at the moment.

I had no idea he was ill, just yesterday I listened to clips of his new album.
I was never a huge fan but I like his hits and have the recent cd.
Rest in peace David.

Sad to hear this unexpected news. Not really big fans ourselves, but was only watching some video clips of him on an Eighties programme in recent days. :x

Music Icon, there will probably never be anyone as influential in the music world as David Bowie was, he was a one off and changed his music style and image many times over the years ...............to think he started his music career with The Laughing Gnome  ................another unusual thing about DB was he had different coloured eye pupils ...............as I posted elsewhere, it was a coincidence you posted Eman on the DB album just hours before his passing .............DB backing band all came from the East Yorkshire area...........his famous lead guitarist Mick Ronson who played all those fabulous riffs, most notably in Starman, was from Hull as were two other members of his band...........Mick Ronson also passed away from cancer :( ..................David Bowie was a musical Genius .....................RIP David Bowie :( :(

Robert, yeah. I still don't like the new album. However, I read that the lyrics to the album spoke of his failing battle with cancer and that they videos for "Lazarus" and "Blackstar" were symbolic on how he wanted to approach death in his current state? Kinda morbid if you ask me, but I respect what he did and thought it was art. However I'm betting the album goes to #1 and people will be finding clues in the lyrics and music. Just like they did with the Beatles albums. My personal thoughts for those people, listen to the album for what it is, take it face value as Bowie intended and don't read too much into nothing.
