Last time I had a toffee--many many years ago, I broke one of my front teeth in 4 pieces. I went to Guys Emergency Dental Department, [at that time I was working in London] where they took all the pieces out, then stitched up my gum. It was the only time that I almost passed out, while lying down!!!

Then next time I went to the Dentist, I had to have a bridge to replace the missing tooth---cost a good few pence, even then.

Needless to say, I never , never eat toffees now.

I don't like Sugared Almonds, they taste like purfume to me.
Pear Drops, I don't like these either.

Thank you Marian(s) for mentioning 'Rowntree's' in the Fruit Pastilles/Fruit Gum posting - I served my time as an apprentice Printer in their York factory.

And Marian, Rowntree's had their own jaw breaking, tooth shattering toffee called Toffo. :)

Peter was a salesman at one time and used to bring home deformed Wagon Wheels etc. They were very much appreciated by our three.

The only one I can contribute is:

Mint Imperials

...which I pick up at hotels and restaurants in the UK -- I've never looked for them in the supermarkets. They are great mints!

Peter says he remembers 'NUT BITS" that were small bits of nuts covered in chocolate. :D
What about the little round toffees with a flat bottom covered in chocolate, I can't remember what they were called, but they were nice. :D

They sound like ROLOS! I can eat them, as they are soft toffee.

They weren't ROLOS Marian, these were much smaller and the toffee was hard.
