Tears of Comfort

Post by Administrator » Fri Sep 01, 2006 11:17 am

I received this letter today and I was so touched by the words that I wanted to share it with you.

Hi Michele,

I just feel I ought to share our story with you and hopefully you will be able to pass on our Thanks on to Matt.

Two weeks ago, my Father passed away quite suddenly after a very short illness at the age of 78 years. My Mum suffers from Alzheimer's and unfortunately due to circumstances my Brother and I have reluctantly been forced to find my Mum accommodation in a care home which can give 24 hour care, which we cannot.

That is the sad part over.

As children and since leaving home we have always listened to Matt, and still do now. When ever you entered my Parents little bungalow Matt Monro could always be heard.
Our Mum and Dad had been married 57 years and were totally devoted. Dad looked after Mum to his end even though it was becoming a struggle, was determined to carry on.

Unfortunately Mum was not able to attend Dads funeral because of her confusion, so we decided on a service to include them both.

We entered to" Born Free" as they loved this song and we were always taught "Life is for living"
We listened to "As long as she needs me" half way through, and finished with "My Love and Devotion".

Everyone commented of our choice of songs as people knew how devoted Mum and Dad were, and although they were played at such a sad time, we find comfort now from listening to them as this was a happy part of their lives.

Hope you do not mind us sharing this with you, but feel that we wanted to Thank Matt, as the songs have brought comfort and good memories to us at such a sad time in our lives.

Kind Regards

Mrs Lyn Lound
Mr Ian Marshall

Yes, thank you so much, and we couldn't agree more Robert. In spite of a very sad day there were moments to treasure, and no voice but Matt's could fulfill such an occasion with those beautiful chosen songs.
