Jump Up - Elton John

Diana (1980 Original CHIC mix) - Diana Ross
I Love My Lady - Johnny Mathis. This one I keep returning to as it's an awesome album and love that Johnny ventured out and did something out of the box and contemporary for the times.

I saw that album in the store under the Record Store Day section but at £28 for only 8 tracks I put it back.Eman wrote:Diana (1980 Original CHIC mix) - Diana Ross

Karl, that's kind of a steep price, I paid about $20 (USD) for my copy and feel it's worth it. It's 8 tracks because of some of the duration of the tracks typical of CHIC. It's a good album and really shows Johnny's diversity to adapt to the times. I feel if this was released back when it should have, his audience and fan base would have expanded just like when he did the duets and duet album with Denice Williams.

The same store had Johnny's album reduced by £10 today so I bought it!

So Karl what did you think of it and was your copy the "smoke" colored vinyl? Interested in what you might think of it as everyone doesn't really warm up to the album at first. I think you got a good price on the lp. From what I heard it wasn't too big of a seller on Record Store Day.

Re: What's In Your CD Player/iPod/MP3/Computer/Hi Fi, Right Now?
According to what I heard and read, Columbia (CBS) didn't like the album and thought it wouldn't be a lucrative sale, plus with Johnny joining forces with the CHIC organization and the disco backlash his older fan base might be alienated. I think it's a good strong album especially the second side but yes it is a typical CHIC production. Let me know what you think. My friend really likes it.karl wrote:
