It was odd especially when Don said the Peggy Lee song had been covered by many artists

Another kind of odd programme from Don tonight who played songs by song writers who wrote both the words and the music to songs ………………..Don played "matchless Matt" singing the Jimmy Webb penned song Didn't We :) ……….not Didn't We Girl as Don said at the end of the song ……………….he also played the Beatles song Till There Was You which was the Beatles only ever recorded song from a musical (apart from their own films) …….but the sound was iffy, as the vocal channel on the song was virtually non existent ……...the voices could hardly be heard yet the music was ok ………………..Don also said he gets many requests for songs by singer songwriter Don Maclean then proceeded to play Perry Como singing the Don Maclean written song And I Love You So, very misleading ……………….Don played Rod McKuen's Jean also written by Rod but Matts version is fantastic even though I like Rods voice …………...here is Matts version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TVNI7pzG-k :)

We enjoyed the show and nice to hear Ella Fitzgerald and of course Matt. As regards the Beatles the sound was fine but we hadn't heard it before so we didn't recognise the voices.

We agree with you Robert & Christine that Matt singing Jean is brilliant and no one can match "matchless Matt" ☺☺

So Don Black DOES play requests then :o Maybe we ought to start asking again ?

Another good show from Don especially as he played two of our favourite songs namely On Days Like These from "matchless Matt" ☺ and Eydie Gorme singing Guess Who I Saw Today.
From what Don said we thought that this request show was a one-off as he has had so many people writing to him he wanted to say thanks for all the nice things people were saying about the show. Hopefully, he will do it again on the next series ☺

Don also played Ronnie Hilton's chart topper No Other Love which stayed in the top spot for 6 weeks in 1956 :)

Enjoyed most of Don's show especially Matt, Ella and Peggy Lee singing a track we hadn't heard before. We also liked listening to Clare Teal.
