Very sad to read the news this morning. Incredible lady who had an amazing career and brought so much comfort to so many during the war years and ever since. Lovely singing voice who you could immediately recognize on the radio. A National Treasure who will always be remembered. A very sad day.
R.I.P. Dame Vera Lynn.

In spite of Dame Vera reaching the grand age of 103. I am not ashamed to say that I was upset beyond words when I saw the news of her passing this morning.
Dame Vera Lynn, a young girl, raised in the East End of London, whose songs and recordings brought hope and comfort to thousands of troops serving away from home, and to those of us at home who survived those troubled years. Her voice with clear and perfect diction, sincerity and emotion was instantly recognisable.
An Icon and a National Treasure who will forever be remembered with gratitude and affection.
R.I.P. Dame Vera Lynn.

Lena I can understand you being upset, I think we all felt Vera would go on forever. I too felt sad when I heard the news.

Good to see you posting even if it is for a sad event. I hope you're coping with this lockdown, things are easing up now Thank God!

Hi Karl. Yes, like thousands of others I will definitely be glad to see the end of this pandemic, and get back to some kind of normality, but this isn't going to happen overnight.
As for my posting, things have been difficult and worrying in recent months, but we all have to cope and go on as they say, and I hope to contribute more but hopefully not with something as sad as a death.
