Harmony Night......a good music show on the radio

Post by Hilary » Mon Sep 04, 2006 10:29 am

Hi Everyone,

As we all know there aren't that many good music shows on the radio now so it is good to know that "Harmony Night" presented by Bill and Angela Rennells is still flying the flag for our type of music.

I'm not sure if the show has been mentioned here already so if it has, well that is good, if not then I shall post a bit about the show here!

Husband and wife, Bill and Angela present a GREAT music show each and every Sunday night from 10pm - 1am, ( yes I know it's late but it is worth staying up for!)

The range of music is very wide, anything from Luther Vandross to Vera Lynn and even the odd classical piece here and there.
I suppose you could say that the show is a little bit like Desmond Carrington's show in that the music is more important than the chat, which is good.

Bill and Angela play the music that we don't hear enough of on the radio now and yes, even 78 recordings sometimes turn up, (complete with scratches!) Matt is featured on the show a fair bit, which is good.

I think that the show is sometimes over looked because it clashes with David's show on Radio 2 and some folk do forget about "good old local radio" which is a shame!

If you want to hear the show you can by going to the BBC website and using the listen again feature as the show will be there until 10pm next Sunday.

You can also log onto BBC Radio Berkshire or Kent and just look for Harmony Night. Do have a listen as I think you will like what you hear!
 :D

Hi Hilary-I may just tune in to Radio Kent next week and give it a listen.

And I received my new Neil Sedaka Dvd this morning, so really looking forward to seeing that.

Hi Hilary, we certainly have enjoyed listening to Harmony Night. In fact we've listened to the entire programme while getting lunch prepared and being busy.
A really nice request programme and a great selection of singers, among many that we've discussed on the forum, Michael Buble, Peter Grant, Frank Sinatra, David Whitfield, Judy Garland,,,,,, It goes on and on, and some real oldies too and what a surprise to end the show with Henry Hall and The BBC Dance Orchestra playing " Here's To The Next Time"
There will be a next time for us now, so thank you Hilary. :)

Hi Lena, Harry, Marian and I almost forgot, Robert,

Lena and Harry - I'm glad you emjoyed listening to "Harmony Night" and that you will listen in again next week.

You may have heard the presenter, Bill Rennells mention that he and Angela will be having a BRAS meeting soon!
Just in case you were thinking that Bill was a bit "odd" and why would a man want to have a BRAS meeting anyway!
Bill has his own fanclub and BRAS stands for - BILL RENNELLS APPRECIATION SOCIETY!

Robert - I love Desmond Carrington's "smooth" as silk voice. It is a shame really that his show is only on for an hour.
It's hard to believe that Desmond is 80 years old now! :D
