My Mum used to work at Liptons supermarket. Here's one my Aunt Edith used to get, it was Brooke Bond's Choices Tea, lovely cup of tea but very hard to get hold of now. My other Aunt used to say the tea was so good she never liked to take the cup away from her mouth.

George always made the best cup of tea ever--and even though I made it EXACTLY the way he did, with the same tea, etc etc---my tea never tasted the same.

There's a real knack to making a good cup of tea isn't there Marian? and I'm sure George had it (down to a T! )

MY MUM ALWAYS USED THE 'BEST TEA' AS SHE CALLED IT FROM THE CO-OP.
IT WAS CALLED 'INDIAN PRINCE'.
SHE NOW HAS A CUPBOARD FULL OF RINGTONS TEA AND THEIR OTHER PRODUCTS PROBABLY LIKE EVERY OTHER PERSON OF HER AGE AND NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT MUCH!!!

My Mum and Dad used to get Rington's tea when they still lived in Marple, it used to be delivered in an old-style van.

Living 'down South' I had never heard of Rington's Tea until I bought a special money box issued by Rington's for my grandson. I then went on to buy several millennium souvenirs they issued at the time.

Well here's a story. This was back in the Fifties and tea bags were unknown to my Mother, barely known to us either, but my mum in receipt of a large pack, of these, coutesy of the Royal Mail came upstairs to us and said with a dismal expression ,... What a palava that was. She'd spent the previous hour opening all the tea bags to empty into her tea caddy.

What a laugh Lena and Harry!
Although this has nothing to do with tea, your story reminded me of the first time Peter and I came across a duvet. It was in the early sixties and we were on holiday in Austria.
After a lot of discussion, we got into it!

We can understand that Marian, duvets are convenient and we are used to them now, but I agree with what my mother often used to say .. I like my quilt and eiderdown.

Marian's story about the Duvets reminded me of the time when George went to see his mum In Norfolk--he was over 70 at the time! He take her a small Fridge, and a brand new Colour Tv, to replace her old Black and white one.

Next time he went up to see her, he found the fridge turned off--as she did not want to waste the electricity, and she was using it as another cupboard!!! The lovely colour TV, she had adjusted, so that it would only show Black and white "as the colours gave her a headache" !!!
