I've always said that about myself Gray, being born in the wrong decade.

:D :D
Last night watched a 1948 film with Jack Warner (no Kathleen Harrison in this one Robert  ) called "My Brothers Keeper". Saw a different side to Jack Warner in this one as he played a convict who had escaped from prison and was handcuffed to a very young George Cole.

Back to the Dirk Bogarde films, Doctor In The House was the first film that Harry and I saw together
Going back to visits to the pictures, as we were growing up as kids, like Peter it was mainly Saturday morning pictures.
We attended Two cinemas The Gaumont State cinema in Kilburn and The Odeon in Kensal Rise. Both of these each had what they referred to as their club song that we all sang before the showing of the films and again at the end.
I remember every word to both of them :)
We had cartoons but always a feature film and mainly westerns.
It was generally Roy Rogers or Gene Autrey who were always the goodies who encountered the baddies and the outlaws ,and the film always ended with thunderous cheers from us kids with the arrival of the cavalry. Then from there it was a quick dash to our local MANZES for our pie mash and liquor

You are talking about remembering the words to Saturday morning cinema.
Ours was the ABC -I can only remember the first two lines:
'We are the boys and girls well known as Minors of the ABC
and every Saturday we line up to see the films we love and shout about with glee'.
Then I get mixed up with the Ovaltineys!
We are the Ovaltineys happy girls and boys?
Help :?

YOu have both bought back memories for me--My sister and i used to go to "The Savoy"--just about 100 yards down the road--it was an ABC---and this was our song-

We are the boys and girls well known as
Minors of the ABC
And every Saturday we line up
To see the films we like
And shout aloud with glee
We love to laugh and have a singsong
Such a happy crowd are we
We’re all pals together
The minors of the ABC

Every Saturday the "host" I guess he would be called now, would call out for anyone who had a birthday that week, to go up on stage-and one year I persuaded my sister-who was only about 5---when the guy asked for her birthdate, she replied "33rd of May"--and he disqualified her and sent her off the stage [it was actually 23rd]

Does anyone remember a singer called Jackie Dennis--I think he only recorded one song, called "La de dah", and one of the lines was "I'll take you through the ABC of Love"--but due to his strong Scottish accent, I always thought he was singing "I'll take you to the ABC"---and I thought for many years , that song was referring to our little local cinema !!!!

Harry and Lena--you missed out the "Serial"--always finished on a cliff-hanger, so you had tto go back the next week to find out what happened--and the serials seemed to go an forever !!

That was a good 6 pennyworth [old pennies that is]

And do you remember, you could always tell the good guys from the bad guys, because the good guys wore a white hat, and the Baddies a black hat !!!!

I have been watching a dvd tonight called "Putting it together---the Making of the Broadway Album" by Barbra Streisand.

I had this as a video back in the mid 80's, but it has been in a box with my other videos , in the garage, for many years!

However, earlier this year--after nearly 25 years, it has been released on dvd.

Just one word to descibe it---MAGIC !!!!

Watched Nancy Goes to Rio again today............plus Go Go With Matt Monro just to listen to Three Coins in the Fountain :) :) haven't played it for about a year, and it's the only place to hear Matt singing this wonderful song.
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(
