Favourite Films
Re: Favourite Films
This film goes back a long long way, and I was very young when I first saw it. It never appears on TV now, nor is it available on dvd or video. I cannot remember the last time I saw it.
It is called "THE BLUE LAGOON" and starred Jean Simmons and Donald Houston, based on a novel by H de Vere Stacpoole.
It is about 2 young children who get marooned on a desert Island, and are there for many years before being rescued.
I know there was a remake, with Brooke Shields and Christopher ???, but I did not watch it, nor do I intend to.
On Amazon just now, there is an Argentinian Film Poster, of the original film , and although neither of the charcters on the poster look like Jean Simmons or Donald Houston, the Poster is priced at £150.00 !!!!!

The original Blue Lagoon was from 1949...........it was Christopher Atkins who co starred with Brooke Shields (I couldn't rmember him, and still don't, so I looked it up at IMDB)

I loved the film Yanks too Marian, that was the first film that I saw Richard Gere in.
Remember THE BLUE LAMP .
On our way home on Monday we showed John the cinema where Jack Warner was shot in the movie.
This cinema was originally called The Coliseum.
We knew it as the Coli-bughole.

GOOD BYE MR CHIPS. with ROBERT DONAT.
A great film. We didn't see the re-make with Peter O.Toole and Petula Clark.Somehow, there are certain films that we feel should never be remade.

GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER...with Spencer Tracy, Katherine Hepburn.
Great story of Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn as parents and dealing with the subject of interracial marriage with their daughter played by Katharine Houghtonn and boyfriend Sydney Potier.

Re: Favourite Films
That is a coincidence--I was going to list "Guess whose coming to Dinner " next---Sydney Poitier was just so handsome !
So I'll go for "SOMMERSBY" with Richard Gere [again]and Jodie Foster.

Another oldie that i've seen several times, that great actor... Alastair Sim in "The Happiest Days Of Your Life." as headmaster of a boys school who joins Margaret Rutherfords school during world war Two and joined by Joyce Grenfell.

We remember the Tony Curtis haircut Marian.
Tony was on "The One Show" a couple of weeks ago, minus the haircut.
GOING MY WAY.. with BING CROSBY and BARRY FITZGERALD.

I'm going to add two animated films together as I love them both as much...
Bambi, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Most definately without the haircut Lena
