CLARE TEAL

Post by Sandra » Mon Aug 17, 2009 8:47 am

I am sorry to have to say this but we have tried Clare Teals Sunday night 'Swing Music'? show for 3 weeks now and finally turned it off last night. :( Clare appears to be reading 'parrot fashion' the information on the music that she is playing, and we thought that last nights 'Latin' theme was particularly awful.
There was a good write up in yesterdays Mail on Sunday about Malcolm Laycock and it appears that the new executive producer Bob McDowall has a lot to answer for

Hi Sandra. couldn't agree more. Clare Teal's first week wasn't so bad, but last night's was a waste of time. She seemed to be playing monotonous unknown latin recordings that never seemed to end.
One or Two members of The British Dance Band Group have had their messages about Malcolms departure removed from the Radio 2 message boards, and so the saga goes on, and on.

Perhaps she's been taking lessons from dear-old David(script-reader)Jacobs.
Never listen to either these days, way past my bed-time! :D

I'm trying hard to make it through this hour of Latin jazz. But I'm very close to turning it off ... and I normally like Latin music.

Sorry, Claire, but this classic Sunday night programme is not a Radio 2 d.o.c.umentary, but a programme that celebrates historic jazz, swing, and sweet big band music as well the bands that are still performing today.

:) Actually it got better in the last quarter hour with selections by Stan Kenton and Quincy Jones. And she mentioned performances of big bands across the UK.

I's sure now that Clare Teal's music is chosen for her and one or Two others.
Clare has just released a CD with some decent songs, nothing like last Sunday's tripe.
Russell Davies and Desmond Carrington have their own producers. Clare should ask for one. :) :)

Heaven forbid she goes the way of Russell Davis'recent offering(s).I 'switched' him off a long time ago-only listened the other week as Radio Times(incorrectly)a tribute to Tony Bennett's 83rd Birthday-no tribute.I should have known!

Russell never got round to paying tribute to Matts album Yesterday, like it was announced on here, that he would

Interesting to note that Clare Teals programme on Sunday at 10 has changed its sub heading from 'Swing Music' to 'Swing-era hits and rarities'.
Perhaps the 'rarities' part should come to the forefront of the heading. :( :?

I only repeated what Russell's producer told me-I guess it's something to do with the position of the planets-you know'ruled by the moon'!
