Is this an old tribute-I have a Johnny Mercer tribute on disc from way back--featuring Johnny Mathis, Margaret Whiting---I cannot remember who else.

The tribute was made for Turner Classic Movies, and an accompanying two-disc DVD set has also been announced. I'm glad to hear that much time and attention is being paid to Mr. Mercer. You year so many stories of what a colorful and beloved man he was, and I hope that the tribute captures at least some of that personality (and Southern charm) that his friends and colleagues loved to speak of.

Look out for a Tony Bennett (also Andy Williams)interview and I'm told Tony sings'THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC'with Dave Brubeck at the closing.
I'm guessing it;s a clip from their appearance on The White House lawn in the sixties. :D

On holiday in the U.S. recently, we visited the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, and were lucky enough to catch a special display of Johnny Mercer music and memorabilia that happened to be on at the time to celebrate his centenary.
There was also a film shown about his life and times that was fascinating.
We bought a book about him that lists all the songs he ever wrote and the artists who peformed them. Naturally Matt's name occurs on many occasions. :D :D
