We received our copy of "The Rare Monro" today and we can only echo each and every comment and compliment that we have read about this CD.
This is a double package of sheer brilliance by Matt, and credit goes to Michele and to all the people who have been involved in producing this treasure, and to think that so many of these gems were unreleased and discarded.
The number One track, Other People is a superb start to these gems but these tracks are just wonderful "Taking A Chance On Love," "All Of You," I'm Just Breezing Along" "Sitting On Top Of The World" "Lulu's Back In Town" "Makin Whoopee" "Day In Day Out" "Strike Up The Band " is a knockout and "Blue Moon and Till " are the best recordings ever of these two songs. Fantastic.!!!!

Hi all--my cd arrived yesterday too-I have only had chance to listen to a few tracks but I have loved everything so far-especially the uptempo numbers. Some really great unknown songs on there too--how lucky are we to be able to get a chance to hear them, thanks to Michele and everyone else who worked on this great and very special cd collection.

Im pleased you have all now received your CDs. Finally!
Personally I think all the songs on disc 1 are fantastic, and many could easily have appeared as singles or as album tracks. I cant believe the quality of tracks like 'Other People, Yours Alone, Try To Remember and The Touch Of Your Love', have only now appeared on a rarities CD. But Im grateful that they have. My fav track on disc 2 has to be 'Birth of the blues' which is just so original. But really, what a great addition rather than just more greatest hits packages

Harry & Lena - we MUST have the same postman! I ordered my copy on Thusday last wek from HMV, it was despatched on Friday and still hasn't turned up! Every day when I come from work, I open the door full of anticipation of seeing the package on the doormat. Two other things I ordered the same day from other websites turned up Saturday. Ho hum. Still, makes it even more exciting!

Hi Mike, we know what you mean, Marian and ourselves were getting frustrated too, but Harry looking at the e-mail again realised that it stated that the item would be processed for dispatch!!! within 48 hours, thus calming us down just a little. Not A Lot. But it did then arrive on the exact day expected.

Glad To Have The "Rare Monro"
Received my "Rare Monro" CD just this last week. I've been able to listen to most of it. I have some of the songs, but they are copies from 45RPM records and not very good recordings - so glad to have replacements now!
A lot of the others I've not heard before and that will add to my growing collection of one of the 20th Century great male singers. I can now add more MM songs when I create collections to play on my CD player in the auto.
GREAT!!!!

Hi Grandpajan, good to know that you have received your " Rare Monro" copy, and most of us who post here have received our's too.
A nice feeling to know that right now, at this particular time with the release of both "Heart Of The Man" and "The Rare Monro" Matt's voice is filling homes worldwide.
We are playing a special favourite right now "Till " Late listening for us

It finally made it! I've got so used to waiting 2-3 days for things that I order off the internet, that 1 weeks seems a long time. Anyway, it heightened the anticipation, and I wasn't disappointed! I would have paid £5.99 for the sleeve notes alone! Not only a fascinating insight into the album contents from Michelle, but pictures of a Boeing 707 in early 1960s BOAC livery also satisfied the 'plane spotter' in me!
What a great mix of music this album is, with more of Matts trademark ballads ('All of a sudden' & 'Other People', 'walk into the Dawn' are all superior 60s 'power ballad') and love songs ('I love you too', 'Yours alone' to name but two!), to jazz/blues and some fantastic showstoppers (Strike up the band and 'Lulu back in town'). Its nice to hear Matt singing light and frothy songs like 'Is there anything I can do' that don't have some amount of angst or anguish attached! Brilliant! and such witty lyrics. Finally some renditions of songs that give Bobby Darin a run for his money ('Sittin on top of the world', 'Breezing along with the breeze' and 'Up a lazy river' for instance). And then, just to top it off, those amazing jingles! I am intrigued to know what 'Pop gear' was! I am too young to remember the originals, but Woolworths used the 'wonder of Woolworths' until pretty recently
Well worth the wait!

Pop Gear
Pop Gear was a movie (well sort of more of a collection of performances by well known artists of the day filmed for the cinema)
