I'm listening to Jack Jones' What the World Need Now is Love, a compilation album released a year after the sale of Kapp Records, and containing some unreleased tracks. Once such song is the beautiful and timeless "I Never Go There Anymore." Now THIS is the Rod McKuen song that Barbra Streisand should have considered recording (instead of "If You Go Away"). This one was co-written with the great Marty Paich, which made a huge difference. There are so many wonderful, obscure songs out there waiting to be rediscovered, and these singers today just keep on recording the same old standards. :?

I've fallen in Love with Jesamine by the Casuals: great 60s song, sadly a one-hit wonder. So good that I'm surprised the song hasn't been covered by others over the years. Magic.

Jon

Jesamine is one of my all-time favourites.
I love the arrangement, the vocals, the lyrics.

It was one of the first singles I collected many years ago.

We love 'Jesamine' too We might have an L.P. of theirs somewhere as well,it had some pretty good songs on it including 'Jesamine'.
A couple of the boys were from Lincoln and their was great excitement when they used to pop into the record shop that I worked in,in the late 60's :D
I wonder if they are still performing :?:

As far as I can remember, as Sandra said , the song was cut short by the news, and Terry said "wonderful, wonderful ! Matt Monro"--which is basically all he had time for as it was news time.,

But the way he said "Wonderful, wonderful"--it was obvious that he really meant it.,

I have been listening to "The Exciting Voice of Al Martino" album tonight, one of his finest.

We were out but played Russel's programme when we came in Robert.
We were as baffled as Russell was when someone likened Al's voice to Val Doonican's. We like Val Doonican any way, but someone needs an ear specialist or needs to sober up. :) :)

Nothing like each other at all. As much as I like Val Doonican, and I have quite a lot of his music, they don't even sound similar. Not in the same league as Al.

I hear that Russell is due to stand in for Robert Robinson on the latter's quiz show.
