The Palladium years like that were halcyon days-we were spoiled. Tony used to appear same venue same number of times as a whole lot of other American stars did. there, and THE TALK OF THE TOWN and simi lar places up&down the country. Here in Yorkshire there was THE WAKEFIELD THEARE CLUB(can't remember if Jack played there),and I can't believe I only went to see Tony there on one occasion each visit. He reminded me in later times how I hadn't even bothered to hang around afterwards to see him!
In coming here so regularly over the years, they have certainly been loyal to their UK audiences. :D

I can recall Johnny Mathis doing tours all over the country of at least 50 concerts--2 per night.

I well remember my friends and I did 2 days in Bournemouth, 2 in Brighton [8 concerts], plus a whole week in London , 2 concerts per night.

By the end of the tour, we were not sure what time of day it was--was it the 2nd half or the first half ! It was quite exhausting---and we were not even singing !! This was in 1983.

That was the last of the "big" tours, and after that they were about 12 concerts per tour-1 a night. A little easier on the pocket--but lots more travelling involved.

Obviously age has a lot to do with this. I see that JJ is doing several 4/5 night sets of concerts in US.

In USA now . JM never does more than 2 concerts at any one venue--many times only 1. Like JJ and Tony Bennett and others, he has no need to do these concerts-he just loves singing--and on TV on a Terry Wogan chat show-he has said that as long as people want to listen to him , he will keep singing.

I have a friend who is flying to California on Friday, for 2 concerts.

As it's Christmas,I've put my two jack Jones albums into my car player-Jack's KAPP one and one I discovered recently on the LASERLIGHT label-both are excellent.
Question;-Did Jack record one for RCA?

Hi Terence-the Laserlight cd is the only one I have of Jack Jones Christmas cds--it does not indicate R CA anywhere that I can see--just "DELTA MUSIC"

Hi Mariana

I think it is a case similar to the new Countryhouse CD. Although the songs are from Harbour & The Full LIfe, the liner notes do not identify them as the RCA recordings.

Here is the cover of the 1969 Christmas album that Jack recorded for RCA which became the Laserlight CD.

Let's ask Jack's no. 1 fan in the UK, Marian. :D

I've been away for a few days Terence, so I've had to do a little research on this one.
'The Jack Jones Christmas Album' was Jack's Kapp album, I believe from 1963, and was his his main Christmas album.
Ten of the tracks from this one were released on another album,' A Jack Jones Christmas' issued in 1973 by RCA International, and issued on CD as 'Christmas' on Delta Laserlight in 1993. Then on MCA in 1998 as 'White Christmas'.
There are quite a number of compilations, with other artists, with Christmas tracks by Jack too.
When he was in the U.S Airforce in 1964' Sing a Song for Christmas with Airman Jack Jones' was issued, this was a live album recorded with an Airforce band.

What about this video? It should be rereleased on DVD!

I have both of these Terence. :)
The album 'The Look of Love' is a reissue of 'Without Her' with the bonus track 'Goin' Out of My Head.'
The video 'An Evening With' was unofficially recorded when JJ appeared in concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
Jack didn't even know about it himself, and even borrowed my copy for a while.

Hi Marian

Merry Christmas!

Was The Look Of Love released on CD or just on vinyl?

Merry Christmas to you too Terence!

I think The Look of Love was just on vinyl, that's what I have anyway.
Marian :)
