So Whitney Houston is up for the role now. I am glad that it was decided not to use Janet Jackson. I could not think is anyone less Lena looking. I think Whitney could carry the role if well directed.

I love Lena, still hoping that her one woman Broadway show from the 1980's will get a DVD release. I recently brought a DVD of her performing live in concert from I think the mid 90's she looked and sounded amazing.

So they need your approval Lena, for the movie to progress with Whitney in the starring role

Hi Marian

With reference to your post about JM's performance of the Kismet medley, thought you might like to know that the English National Opera in London are doing a production of "Kismet" next year, and I think Michael Ball is starring in it. The ENO are broadening their compass outside strict opera (to get bums on seats, I think) and "Kismet" is a good choice as the music is based on that of the classical compsoer Borodin ("Stranger in Paradise" is the same melody as his Polovtsian Dances) so combines classical and musical theatre elements well. You may find more details on the ENO website but I don't know if tickets are on sale yet.

Hi Jon--I am really interested in that information, as I am a big fan of Michael Ball--especially doing musicals. I do not ever recall him doing any of the music from Kismet--some great tunes there !!

I do not think I would be able to get to London to see it much as I would like to. Even with a matinee, it means leaving my dogs for too long.
But hopefully they may do a dvd of it. like when Michael was in "Passion ".

Hi all--for anyone interested, there are a load of My photos that I took of Johnny Mathis in concert on this link.

I was not clever enough to do it myself,so I sent attachments through to a friend in US, who got another friend to do this.

Isn't technology wonderful--I was up at midnight sending them to US, and here they are.

Also if anyone wants to know I used my little Samsung L50 digital camera, bought just recently in Argos for the staggering [!! ] price of £130.00. I can tell you that I am highly delighted with the results.

Here is the link--you may need to copy and paste

Thank you for those photos Marian, taken on your rather expensive camera. But it must be a good one though. They say you pay for what you get. By the way Marian does JM dye his hair  as I cannot see any grey bits anywhere

Glad you like the photos--I do not know if he dyes his hair--he is 71, so I guess it is possible-I can tell you though that he does not seem to have aged over the last 10 years.

I am sure he must colour his hair - I don't think anyone of 71 would still have that hair colour, he still looks good on it.

Thanks for the great photos Marian. Johnny Mathis certainly does not look 71.

Great pictures of JM Marian, you camera worked a treat. He looks good and as far as his hair colour at 71, nature doesn't treat showbiz stars any different to any one else. 8)
Now Jack Jones looks great too and doesn't use any colour, it would be noticed immediately if he did.
Marian, sometimes sitting near the front in theatres makes taking pictures more noticeable than sitting further back, and though announced and forbidden in most theatres people do sometimes ignore it completely.
Al Martino has often been known to say, take as many pictures as you want. In fact he'll pose if he sees someone taking a picture. :)

So does Michael Bublé - he poses for pictures and makes jokes about it during his act. I do think it is difficult to stop now anyway as many people have a camera in their phone. It does get annoying if someone is using flash all the time.
