Duet with Cliff

Post by mariana44 » Wed Jun 28, 2006 11:00 pm

I have just been browsing, and came across the information that Cliff Richard is going to record a duet with Matt for his forthcoming "Autumn Duets CD"

Firstly, does anyone know if this is true--and if so, is there any more information about it?

Yes it is true, I can't believe you are all so on the ball.
The track is to be "Let There Be Love" and we are thrilled that Cliff
chose to include dad on his new album.

Hi Michele--sounds good--"Let there be love" is a great song--I love Matt's version of it , because some of the lyrics are different to those I have heard before---

"Let there be light to enlighten our day.
Chasing the shadows of darkness away"

We all need that , at times !!

And then there's

"Many more novies of girl meeting boy"

I guess [ and hope ] that they will keep to those lyrics-it will certainly be interesting to hear Cliff and Matt together---2 True Greats!!

I have to say, I only found the information by accident, as you do !!

Hi Mariana44 and everyone. Yes those top two lines you wrote above are definitely needed now, after yesterday's England match, after which I felt like kicking the cat, but I haven't got a cat.  and
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

Hi all--it has been a long time coming , but Cliffs Duets album is due out on Nov 6th--available at a good price and free postage for pre-order at

www.cdwow.co.uk.

This is the one with the Duet with Matt, singing "Let there be Love".

Is this being timed for the Christmas Market , I wonder?

Hi Everyone,

My Auntie Marie is a BIG Cliff fan and has been following him for years!(Maybe she will catch up with him some day soon!)

She told us all about the Cliff duets CD, "Two's Company" which is released on 6th November.
The track listing does look very interesting I must say.

1. Move it - with Brian May and Brian Bennett
2. Anyone who had a heart - with Dionne Warwick
3. Miss you nights - with G4
4. Yesterday once more - with Daniel O'Donnell
5. She means nothing to me - with Phil Everly
6. All I ask of you - with Sarah Brightman
7. Let there be love - with Matt Monro :)
8. Throw down a line - with Hank Marvin
9. Fields of Gold - with Barry Gibb
10. Up where we belong - with Anne Murray
11. Slow rivers - with Elton John
12. Suddenly - with Olivia Newton-John
13. Danny Boy - with Helmut Lotti
14. Reunited - with Lulu

Other than Sir Cliff's duet with Matt I am really looking forward to hearing "Fields of Gold" with Barry Gibb.
Being a big Eva Cassidy fan, (yes I do like Sting's version as well!) it will be interesting to hear their arrangement.

I know that Lena and Harry aren't big Cliff fans which is a shame really as the great man is a BIG fan of theirs!

Can't say I'm keen on these duet things where one of the singers is already dead. I guess recording technology is so good that the voices can be made to sound compatible, but somehow it just seems inappropriate and maybe even a little bit sad.

Hi Hilary, obviously from a vast collection and going back a long way, we do have quite a lot of Cliff's music and videos, our son liked his music and like many singers Cliff has made a number of recordings that we also like, and although we don't place him among our top favourite vocalists, looking at the tracks on this one apart from "Let There Be Love " ( the main reason for us buying it anyway) we like the chosen singers duetting with him, well!! most of them :)

We like to give support in certain cases Jon, but we also agree with what you say about this past few years duet craze, in our opinion too there's something not quite right about it.
As Sinatra fans we bought the first two Sinatra duets, but not the last one.
There is a difference with Tony Bennetts duet CD just released. They have all been with Tony on this CD to record this one, and he has mentioned the importance of this and what it has meant to him.

Hi-with those Cliff Duets-a couple of them are old tracks--Olivia Newton John, and Sarah Brightman.

I am looking forward to the duet with Matt--obviously. Plus , like Hilary "Fields of Gold " with Barry Gibb. Lovely song---love Eva Cassidy and Sting singing it---also Michael Ball did a good version of it.

I do like Cliff anyway--have lots of his recordings and dvds.

Hi All,

I have just heard Sir Cliff's duet with Matt.
All I can say is this. It is VERY well recorded and the 2 voices do blend together well.
So much so, you would think that the two of them had actually recorded this together before Matt sadly died.

Well done Sir Cliff. A GREAT tribute to the one and only Matt Monro. :D 8)
