Unwelcome Visitors
Firstly I would like to apologise for all the unwanted postings and unsavoury content we have experienced over the last few weeks. I have spoken to EMI at length with a view to blocking certain postings but unfortunately we can only block them once they have made a posting.
Secondly you will see from the member's List that I have done a bit of "House Cleaning" and will continue to do so regularly.
Secondly I would like to say thank you to everybofy who has e-mailed me at the first sign of trouble and alerted me to the problems. A special thank you to both Robert & Marian who are usually first off the mark.
This website was a long time in the making and means a lot to me. Having a special place for all of us to come and talk, discuss, argue, laugh and cry is something I don't want tainted by the likes of certain selfish individuals.
Please help me to keep the site clean and in the meantime know that I am looking into a way to solve this problem permanently.

VISIT TO LONDON LAST WEEK
I JUST RETURNED FROM A 5 DAY VISIT WITH MY SON, STEVE, IN LONDON. I WAS REALLY SURPRISED BY THE PRICES OF GOODS, SERVICES, AND ENTERTAINMENT IN THE LONDON AREA. TWICE AS MUCH AS IN THE USA. WE WERE THERE FROM 26 SEPT TO 1 OCTOBER.
THE WEATHER WAS UNSETTLED BUT NICE TEMPERATURE WISE. WE SAW THE MUSICAL "BILLIE ELLIOTT" AND THE "SINATRA AT THE PALLADIUM" SHOW. I VISITED SOME MUSIC STORES BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY MATT MONRO IN THEIR INVENTORY. I TRIED TO CONTACT HARRY AND LENA BUT FAILED AT THE PAY PHONE IN MY HOTEL. PLEASE KEEP ME ON YOUR WEB SITE MEMBER AS I ENJOY ALL YOUR MESSAGES.

I guess I visit a different London when I visit once or twice a year. Because I always find an ample supply of Matt Monro CDs in every HMV and Virgin in central London (and throughout the UK). And theatre prices are much cheaper than New York prices; I don't need the best seats. And I can get better deals on hotels in the UK (including full English breakfast usually) than any medium to large city in the US where multiple taxes are added and a stale doughnut is breakfast. Yes, the London restaurants can be expensive (so are many US restaurants), but I go to a small local place, to the excellent chain Garfunkels, and to KFC where the chicken tastes just like it used to in the 1960s and not the greasy mess they serve in the US now ... and don't get me started on the delicious cole slaw at the UK KFCs! And I can go anywhere in the city on a bus for just over 1 pound! And as I've mentioned previously, I can get better prices on ties and shirts at M&S and Bhs than any US department store. And don't get me started on the prices of cookies and other food at the grocery stores. Yes, newspapers are more expensive, but any of them are better than any US paper.
Sorry, but I get tired of people thinking the US is so cheap and London and Europe is so much more expensive. It's not.

For me:-Terence Lee wrote:I would just like to second the comment that I can find Matt Monro CDs at all the music stores I go to in London. It's just a matter of selection.
The bigger HMV in Oxford Street stocks all his CDs in print.

Firstly, many thanks to Michele and whoever else was involved, who managed to remove this unwanted material (for want of a better word) so promptly. Let's hope between us all we can eradicate this kind of thing.
This is such a super friendly site, and we want to keep it that way.
Definately Vikki gets my vote to stay Robert!

Welcome to All
It is lovely to hear from so many of our quieter members, even if I did have to bribe them to make a posting, but it would be lovely to hear how you came to like Matt Monro's music, did you ever see him live, have you got many albums? You might not think it is interesting to anyone else but I love to hear all your stories, so be brave and come and join us from time to time.
Count me in
Fellow Matt lovers,
I appreciate the need to clean up the forum but definately want to remain on the members list, so count me in!
