His Finest- USA

Post by makthnife » Fri Jan 27, 2006 6:31 pm

Hi All!
Anyone know when/where we can get a copy of this (as well as the upcoming "Rare...") in the US?
Can't track it down and am delirious to hear the goodies!
Thanks for the assistance-
-Keith

I also, cannot find a source for "His Finest" here in the good ole US of A. Even the UK Amazon.com does not list it. Any help finding it here is America?

Tough To Find It In UK Too

Post by TerenceLee » Sun Jan 29, 2006 8:11 am

My friend in Cambridge has gone to Tesco and Marks & Spencers but cannot find both cds. Apparently most M & S stores do not sell cds, he says.

I hope the rare tracks in these 2 cds will automatically be incorporated into the track listing of The Rare Monro.

His Finest

I am sorry some of you are having trouble finding the M&S CD. The trouble is it is exclusive to that store. They do have a website which I think is www.marksandspencer.co.uk
If you cannot order it from the website I am sure there is a contact button on the site to ask the question, hope that helps. There is also a website for Tesco at www.tesco.co.uk and you should be able to order the CD there.
I cannot say yet whether these tracks will automatically cross over to Rare Monro as the point of the new CD is to put tracks on that have never been out before and although it will be a double CD we don't have nearly enough room to do that so I will have to be very selective.
Good luck in your search

I had to treck over vale and mountain (well, three M & S' in York) before I located a copy, but it was well worth the effort.
I concur with Lena and Harry, "More" is Matt Monro at his very best.
I hope everyone who wants a copy of this album manages to track one down.
Just a quick question Michele, was there a chance of getting "www.mattmonro.com" on the cover?
I aren't sure of any legal advertising implications this would incur or even if Marks and Sparks simply did not want you to put a 'link' on the cover, but you put so much hard work into this site, Michele, it would be a shame if you can't use any means necessary to spread the word.
Anyway, it is a great CD. Thanks.

Re: My post above, I was listening to the CD over breakfast this morning and reading the inlay notes, only to find "www.mattmonro.com" printed clearly in gold type. So how stupid do I feel now?
In future, a rule of thumb for you all, if I can pluck up the courage to show my face again in this forum, ignore everything I have to say as it's probably a load of old rubbish.
I'm going for a lie down now in a darkened room until i feel much better! :)
Yours humbly.

Hello again!
Thanks for the USA help...M&S said they need a product code for the cd and the other site didn't have it (can you see the determination?).
If someone could bother to drop whatever codes that might be on the cd so I can relay it to M&S, we might be able to grab it over here.
Can't thank everyone enough for the help...especially if we can get our ears on these gems!!

product code

If you go to the dicography page and then click "for the full list" you will see the last listed product is the M&S CD and there you will see the product code.

"Around the world, I've searched for you....."

M&S couldn't track down the cd for me. I had a lovely correspondence with them and also tried calling, but no one could locate a copy.

SO, may I be so bold as to as for a favor for a fellow fan?
If anyone is willing to grab a copy and ship it over to the US, I'd be more than happy to cover all of the expenses in addition to extending my super gratitude. Would anyone be able to help?
My e-mail is my username above, @gmail.com

Worth a shot!
Thanks everyone....

The elusive CD

Post by TerenceLee » Wed Feb 01, 2006 9:31 am

Marks & Spencer replied my S.O.S by giving me the product code as
T40 2029

They said the No. 6 Sidney Street outlet in Cambridge is the only one which stocks CDs. However, the Matt Monro CD is not in at the moment but can be ordered for collection.

This bothers me. How can they sell this CD if walk-in customers cannot find it?

How wonderful they've put the cd out!
And they have have a lovely order form....that doesn't allow shipping to the USA. :(
Might be awhile before I get over there....anyone willing to lend a hand?
Sorry to bug the group on this again, but I'm sure everyone can understand these things when it comes to new material. The same goes for the not-so-long-ago release of new Bobby Darin material.

By the way, outside of standards, MM recorded an impressive number of BD songs when compared to other artists.
