Dennis Lotis

Post by Hammond » Tue Feb 02, 2010 11:30 pm

:) My second posting within a few days. I am sure some of the members of the forum will remember Dennis Lotis who sang with the Ted Heath orchestra in the 50's. You may be interested to know that I saw him at a small club singing with a small jazz group last Sunday (31st January 2010) at the age of 85 this year. I enjoyed it very much but I expect I am biased as my late husband and myself have seen him often with the Big band we follow. He always had time to come and talk to us saying "Hello my good friends", and he hasn't altered even though I haven't seen him since my husband died just over 18 months ago. He did appear at Becks Theatre in January this year with the Miller Orchestra and said that the theatre was packed. I would be interested to know any of the members have seen him recently, and also their opinion of him. Cheers :!: :P :P :P

I remember him from way back---singing at the Hammersmith Palais--with Ted Heath, I believe. I had no idea that he was still singing. I remember Lita Roza too, did I hear that she recently passed away ???

Janet, we have always liked Denis Lotis. He appeared regularly at the Carlton Rooms in Maida Lale London with the Ted Heath Orchestra, and also appearing there was Dickie Valentine with Lita Roza.
We last saw him and spoke to him quite a few years ago at a Warners holiday centre. I have a photo that I took of him at that event somewhere.
It's good to know that he is still going strong and entertaining.

I had a long chat with Dennis a while back-I mentioned him being in'THE WORLD OF PAUL SLICKEY'-he replied quickly ..'I WAS PAUL SLICKEY'. I told him he hadn't changed much-he repled'....f*#** off!..',with a smile.
At the time he was singing with THE DON LUSHER BIG BAND also appearing was Sheila Sothern.Promoter was my friend, impresario,Derek Boulton.
