Ian Carmichael

Post by Marian » Sat Feb 06, 2010 4:16 pm

I've just read that veteren Britsh actor Ian Carmichael has died at the age of 89. He was very popular in his early comedy films like "Privates Progress." I think he was in one or two of the Doctor films too.
He went on to star in television series like Jeeves and Wooster.

Very sad to hear this news.
A few years ago Ian Carmichael kindly opened a charity bazarr for The Ealing branch of the National Autistic Society. A real gentleman.
R.I.P. Ian Carmichael.

I was also sad to see this news. He was a true English gentleman. Have fond memories of watching his balck-and-white 50s and 60s films on TV when a child. Rest In peace, Ian.

The store Carmichaels was started by Ians dad and opened in about 1902..............it was known as Hull's Harrods, a rather expensive shop.............but it closed a few years ago now  :)
