Congratulations Tony Bennett on his GRAMMY award.
" The Art Of Romance" CD is superb, can't wait to hear Tony's planned duet album that includes one of our favourite crooners, Michael Buble. :)

Boring Grammys

Post by TerenceLee » Fri Feb 10, 2006 11:19 am

This awards show is getting boring with too much hip hop and rap. What they should have done was to have a balanced mix of trad pop, jazz and classical performers. For example, Jessye Norman received a lifetime achievement award but I am sure many people in that hall has not even heard her sing before. Gladys Knight received an award. She should have performed as well as Tony Bennett. Dianne Reeves who won the best jazz vocal album award is a marvellous improvisional jazz singer who was not given a chance to perform on stage. I enjoyed John Legend who played the piano and sang. He deserved the nest new artiste award. How nice to see Michael Buble too albeit briefly as a presenter. Did anyone like Christina Aquilera's version of A Song For You? This is one song I always sing when I play the piano and though I think she has the vocal chops, she oversang the song. Opinions?

I guess the organisers can't please everyone but try to target the majority audience resulting in the current ceremony(ies).
