That's a good one, Marian(s). But the actual title is Do They Know It's Christmas.

Here's a real easy opening verse:

Greeting cards have all been sent,
The Christmas rush is through.
But I still have one wish to make,
A special one for you.

"Merry Christmas Darling" great song by The Carpenters 8) If I am correct, it's the first one I've got in this topic, but it was an easy one to guess 8)
"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

Of course--this is "When a child is born"---sung by Johnny Mathis, and also Matt Monro.

I shall have to think of one for tomorrow.

Hi Robert--believe it or not, I have just been checking one out---even you may know this one

Over the ground lies a mantle of white
A heaven of diamonds shine down through the night
Two hearts are thrilling in spite of the chill in the weather

Love knows no season, love knows no clime
Romance can blossom any old time
Here in the open, we're walking and hopin' together

That is one of the most beautiful opening verses ever written (Christmas or otherwise). I really don't like hearing the song anymore without the opening verse. Doris Day recorded a lovely version. Of course, it's:

Winter Wonderland

Do you know this opening lyric?

When you've grown up, my dears
And are as old as I,
You'll often ponder on the years
That roll so swiftly by, my dears,
That roll so swiftly by.
And of the many lands
You will have journeyed through,
You'll oft recall the best of all,
The land your childhood knew,
Your childhood knew.
