Hi Mike, Nice of you to ask.
Her name is Esther Enoka. The middle name is Sri Lankan because her dad's Sri Lankan. Esther after a little girl that my daughter once taught.
NOT Esther Rantzen!!!

Have you watched the new trailers yet Mike, that Michele put on yesterday? Well worth a look. There's a mini documentary for Matt Jnrs show too. Great items.

Hi All

I went to see my eldest daughter Holly in a Nativity play last night, the song that introduced the show was Matt singing 'Mary's Boy Child', which made the night extra special for me!

Just thought I'd share it with you all!

Thanks for sharing that with us, Gray. I'm sure she was cute. It's great that they played Mary's Boy Child sung by Matt Monro and not by someone else.

This reminds me that I need to listen to Matt Monro's version, which I bought at HMV in November. I still haven't gotten around to playing it. I'm not sure he can top the Boney M version, which I've been listening to (along with the rest of their Christmas songs) since last Saturday. I love their versions of White Christmas, Feliz Navidad, and especially Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord, and Zion's Daughter.

I love the song "Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas". It was sung by Johnny Mathis, and has the line-

"There's a tree in The Grand Hotel"

Which is where we always had our Mathis Christmas Lunches--at "The Grand Hotel" in Birmingham---it was always so special, and I have had many a good time there--plus lots of great parties!!

Unfortunately, it is not there now.

I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On" :(

Robert - I think you should have stopped with the sublime Phil Spector Christmas album. :) Last Christmas may be fine for background music at Bhs, but I'm not sure it qualifies as an excellent, fantastic, modern Christmas song. Have you heard the Crazy Frog's version? It was released on Monday. I heard a snippet on Radio 1's Chart Show; it's not all that awful!

I am with Robert on this---it is a modern "classic" Christmas song--I cannot imagin a "Crazy frog "version !!!

And yes, I am afraid the "Great Party Era" is over--lasted from 1980 until 1996---then everything changed. As it does !!
