The Matt Monro 300 Club
Thanks for the messages of congratulations, everyone. I enjoy this forum very much, because you all love all different kinds of music. Thanks for being so accepting of an opinionated American!
Hilary - politics isn't my cup of tea!
Also - I don't know where Mike's message regarding the Euro was, but I have to weigh in on this. I do not want the Euro as the currency of the UK. Everything is too expensive in Euros. I want to continue getting great deals paying in pounds. I can find better deals on hotels in the UK and Channel Islands than just about anywhere (except perhaps for South America). And the prices for food, and other miscelleneous items are so cheap in the UK. Even the theatre and concert prices are cheaper than the US. I don't want the prices to be in Euros.
Regarding the Netherlands: I recently spent a day in Rotterdam. The people were nice and the windmills fascinating, but everything was so expensive and none of the small shops wanted to accept credit cards. I can use credit cards everywhere in the UK.
Regarding Mike's employer John Lewis -- I love to browse the John Lewis stores. It's like walking through a museum. The merchandising is superb. But I can't afford anything but a cup of coffee. I'm strictly a Bhs and M&S guy.

Here I go again, I hear those trumpets blow again.......
Here I go again, I hear those trumpets blow again.......
This always happens--I go away for a few days and someome crashes through another barrier
--this time it's my namesake, Marian. You just flew with your last 100 postings--it was so good to meet up with you at the fan club meeting. And keep your lovely postings coming--you help keep this forum such a fun place!
