I guess I didn't know the rules. So here goes:

1. "Heaven Drops Her Curtin Down" - Jerry Vale
2. "Heaven On Earth" - The Platters
3. "Heavenly" - Johnny Mathis and Harry Connick, Jr.
4. "Heaven Within" - Paul Winters Consort

Hi Robert/ Paul

Yes, The Fiction Factory were a British 'New Romantic' group from the early 80's, I quite like the chorus of 'Feels Like Heaven' - it's got a really good hook.
Paul, The Detroit Spinners (or just Spinners to you in the USA) did a really cool cover of Ruffin's 'My Whole World Ended', not sure if you've heard that too.

Funny Paul, you mention The Eagles again, just as I'm loading their Greatest Hits onto my ipod! :)
Yes, Lyin Eyes does go on for a majestic 7 and a bit minutes! You can't get enough of a good thing! :)

Robert, sorry, but I don't like Last Christmas at all. It reminds me too much of school disco's, where everyone paired off for the last dance. All except me! (sob sob). Not that it's affected me too much (twitch twitch). :)

Anyway, moving on (!), keeping in line with the rockers L&H, how about Black Sabbath's Heaven & Hell?

I see Paul objects to Johnny Mathis and Deneice Williams singing "Heaven Must Have Sent You" by Marvin Gaye. Presumably, Paul, you also think think they shouldn't have sung "You're All I Need to get By", which is on the same album: also a Marvin gaye/Tammi Terrell number and which sounds much the same as the Gaye/Terrell number too. But this is by no means my favourite album of JM's anyway.

If you're a soul fan, Paul, I guess you must like Stevie Wonder. His songs have been covered by many artists, of course, including JM: "Lately" and "If it's Magic", the latter to harp accompaniment, are two which come to mind. I have his 1973 album containing a lovely song called "All in Love is Fair", as well as more well known tracks such "Living in the City" and "Misstra Know it All". I believe he recently released a new album though I haven't heard this.

Yes Gray we had forgotten Black Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell " and yet have just remembered "East Side Of Heaven" sung by both Bing Crosby and Guy Mitchell.  so it can't be memory loss can it .  Robert this ones for you.

I agree with Jon about the Duet album with Johnny Mathis and Deneice Williams-----this is mainly due to Deneice Williams !--There are only a couple of tracks on it that I really like.

My favourite album of Stevie Wonder is called "The Ballads Collection"--includes "All in love is fair" "Never dreamed you'd leave" "Overjoyed" and lots of other lovely songs

No L&H, you don't suffer from memory loss....................................well not too much anyway. The thing you seem to suffer from most is hair loss (well Harry does)

:) - You've made me laugh Lena & Harry and Robert!
So sorry L&H, that I'd pigeon holed you as a couple of headbangers. :)

Back to the game, how about Dylon's Knocking On Heaven's Door?

I like almost everything Stevie Wonder has recorded. He is one of my idols and greatest influences. My favourite songs are Knocks Me Off My Feet, Another Star, As, Lately, All In Love Is Fair, I Ain't Gonna Stand For It, You Haven't Done Nothin', and Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing. I didn't know JM recorded so many of his songs.

I didn't think there would be so many heaven songs. Here's another:

You'll Never Get To Heaven by Dionne Warwick, the Stylistics, and many others.

Shame on you Paul for not mention one of your fave Lisa Stansfield Tracks 'Little bit if Heaven

You may associate 'Stairway to Heaven with Led Zeppelin, but to a whole generation of Brits it is a Rolf Harris track!

'Fianlly, for now, how about One night in Heaven by M People
Michael

Actually, that's one of your fav Lisa Stansfield tracks, Michael. I don't think it would make my top 30 LS songs---even though I still like it and should have remembered it.

Who's Rolf Harris?

I think this the first time M People has been discussed on this forum. Heather Small's voice is so unique!

Paul--sorry but, you have really made me laugh with your question "Who is Rolf Harris"

He is quite unique really--he is an Australian--and he sings all kinds of weird songs like "Jake the Peg" and "Two Little boys"--novelty songs--plus he covered "Stairway to Heaven"--but he includes some Australian instruments--no idea what they are called!

Plus he does painting--he actually has a huge blank canvas on stage, and seems to throw paint all over the place--then he stands back, and suddenly there is an amazing picture.

But one of the best things he did--he actually did it twice--was to get an Old master painted in about 100 different pieces, by 100 different people from all over the place, and he had to get all the pieces together in Trafalgar Square by a set time, and make a huge replica of the original painting. A bit like a massive Jigsaw. The first one he did was Constable's "The Hay Wain"----the second one was "The Mona Lisa" [I think !]. It was really incredible.

Rolf Harris is a very well known and popular figure over here.

Hope this has filled you in a little.

I am mad at myself for not getting "You'll never get to Heaven "--I just love that song.-I do not mind who sings it--Stylistics, Dionne--or JM [who has not actually recorded it, but has sung at concerts]

JM also sang Stevie Wonder's song "Sir Duke"--bujt I only ever saw it on one TV concert--never Live.
