Here is a legitimate one--I am pretty sure it was from a film, and I have it sung by Barbra Streisand--it is called

"Emily"

been a few days so a bit of catching up here

Lena & Harry - thanks for the Marie Lloyd infp - Very interesting to hear about her funeral but can someone please tell me what a none linnet is? had forgotten that she did 'My old man said follow the van' too - they don't write them like that any more!

Marian - Little Devil in German would be 'klein Teufel' (not sure i got the gender right there0  - how is that 'Crazy daisy?!' however, on the subject of Neil Sedaka, how about Betty Grable

And just totally out of the blue (we may have had it but if not, why not!?): How do you solve a problem like Maria

and 'Thoroughly Modern Milly
Michael

Here I go again, I hear those trumpets blow again.......

Mike---yes I realise that "Crazy Daisy" is not the Geman for "Little Devil", but the correct translation would not fit the tune--and for all I know the German version may be about something different, just using the same tune.

How did I forget "Betty Grable"--- one of my favourite Neil songs--along with "Silent Movies"--all about Laurel and Hardy---Charlie Chaplin-etc--etc--etc.

Wel here is my nomination for a song---by a singer called Eleanor McEvoy--never seen her name on this forum--she wrote and sang a song called

"Sophie"

Think the singer is "Richie Valens" john

I would think "Silent Movies" would refer more to Chaplin, Keaton and the wonderful Harold Lloyd, as a lot of Laurel and Hardys movies were "talkies" apart from a few early "silents".
