Robert-I guess you have never heard the song "Silent Movies" a really good song actually--it starts with tinny music as in old films---and actually rhymes "Charlie" with "Laurel and Hardy".

Hi Marian - I love that Betty Grable track too, and also the english version of Little brother! the child in the song used to remind me of my young cousin who was always breaking things! Not heard the song silent movies, but Harold Lloyd was an absolute genious! They used to show his films on BBC2 in the evenings after school

Jon - thanks for mentioning Judith Durham! And that made me think of 'Georgy Girl - by both the Seekers, and Matt of course.

Robert - you are wrong  :? How often do we get the chance to say that  It was Ricky Valance who sang 'Tell Laura I love her' - but I think it may have been 'covered' in the UK. but don't worry, I am sometimes wrong too - you get used to it

Ritchie Valens was the Tex-Mex rocker who bought us 'la Bamba', 'come on lets go' and 'Donna' before his premature death in a certain light aircraft accident in February, 1959 (along with Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper).

more for the list though - how about 'Johnny remember me' by johnny leyton, 'bobbys Girl' by Susan Maughan. Has anyone tried getting away with the 'lusty month of May'!?
Michael

I do like George Benson--but I have never heard that song.

However--here's going back a few years

---"Sweet Little Sheila"--sung by Tommy Roe.

There's the new song by Mika that hasn't even been released yet. It's Radio 2's record of the week this week. I thnk it will come out sometime in 2007.
