Malcolm Vaughan R.I.P.

Post by Marian » Sat Feb 27, 2010 11:42 am

I just came across an obituary in today's paper for singer Malcolm Vaughan who died on the 9th February aged 80.
He was born in Merthyr Tydfil in the Rhondda Valley, and began his career as part of a comedy duo Earle and Vaughan, when he toured with Bill Haley and the Comets and appeared on the Royal Variety Show and also Sunday Night at the London Palladium.
He later had a successful solo singing career with hits such as My Special Angel and St Therese of the Roses.

I remember Malcolm Vaughn well-a powerful voice-I do not think he ever got the recognition he deserved. And so sad to see that his loss almost went unnoticed-thanks to Marian for spotting it.

Very sad news about Malcolm Vaughan Another great singer from that unforgettable era.
Desmond Carrington mentioned on his Tuesday programme that Malcolm had passed away, but didn't give the date.
Thanks Marian.

Another great singer. Made some lovely songs, St. Theresa of The Roses is one of my favourites. He also recorded "The Wedding", but Julie Rogers had the bigger hit with it some years later, but Malcolm's version is also lovely.

A tribute to Malcolm this morning on Dewi Griffiths programme, and one of Malcolms special recordings.
