Hello Marians!

Thanks for replying, yes, I have seen Play Misty For Me - I think it is a super movie - so I was familiar with the song 'Misty', but I had never really listened to the lyrics before .

The line that says "Can't you see you're leading me on, but it's just what I want you to do" and the way Johnny Mathis delivers it really struck me as something special.
It's just so romantic.

Regarding Jack Jones' mum - can you remember the part she played please, Marian?

Jack's mum didn't have a very big part Gray. I think she was a reporter. Her name was Madge Bremmer.

Does the world really need to be told it's wonderful yet again? Sorry everyone, but I have had enough of this song and its many recordings. And I could name hundreds of better country songs than the ones his label has chosen.

There are very few country songs I could think of that I like - the genre just doesn't appeal to me. I once bought a Leanne Rimes CD - bad decision....

For those who are not fond of country music like me, try Vikki Carr's Nashville. It is a superb album filled with classy songs in a country vein.

Same goes for us. Not really country fans, barring a rare few recorded songs.

There are a few songs on there that I am looking forward to hearing--some I do not really know---but at least he is trying something different--at age 72. He could easily keep releasing his old hits over and over [and does, in fact] , but I am ready to listen to something different from JM--whether it works , we shall have to see.

There are probably many more better country songs about, but he has to consider what is in his voice range now-it has changed considerably, even since 20 years ago.

I am not a country fan, as such--but there are some really great country songs around.

I was surprised too, Gray--although I have to say that country music is not often featured on this Forum.
