I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Christmas holiday.

Regarding the different Jack Jones Christmas albums:

My copy of the Laserlight Christmas album is definitely a licensed version of the 1969 RCA A Jack Jones Christmas - same songs, same order.

In the U.S., we've had three versions of Kapp's Jack Jones Christmas Album released. The original was released in 1964, and then released years later with a new cover, plus the MCA identification (since Kapp had already been sold and dissolved). Finally, MCA released it as White Christmas, even issuing it on a stereo CD - but it's abridged, so getting a good CD dupe of either of the original LPs is still a better alternative than White Christmas.

The Jack Jones Christmas Album is treasured by many young American families growing up in the mid-60s, and those same people still consider it their all time favorite Christmas album. 1964 was truly Jack's peak year for commercial success, artistry, and vocal power - releasing no less than THREE classic albums that year (Bewitched, Where Love Has Gone, and the Christmas Album). The Kapp Christmas Album bears no resemblance to the Laserlight/RCA title. It's a typically classy, and very traditional Mickey Kapp production. The Laserlight collection, by contrast, is more similar to the music appearing on Live at the Sands, when Jack was anxious to prove that he could be contemporary, hip and socially conscious. He does include a few traditional hymns on the RCA title, but the arrangements are definitely aimed at a more modern crowd, especially with their many gospel touches. Jack's voice is also noticeably lower than what it was five years earlier for the Kapp Christmas Album, and the youthful energy which gave the Kapp LP its distinctive feel is now gone.

In the U.S., I've never seen MCA license their music out to RCA or any other label. Occasionally they may license out Wives and Lovers or Lollipops and Roses to other companies' compilation CDs, but that's the extent of it. Maybe they do things differently in Europe. We know Kapp's Jack Jones Christmas Album and RCA's A Jack Jones Christmas (Laserlight Christmas) as two distinctly different albums with no shared/similar songs. Hard to believe that The Jack Jones Christmas Album is now 45 years old. Hopefully MCA finds a way to market and reissue it someday, as it's sure to become recognized as one of the greatest Christmas albums of all time.

I've lifted these from a post on JJ's website forum, but well worth a look.

Hi Marian

Is it true that you can only purchase the new CD at Jack's concerts?

Sorry Mark, I did not read your post above before asking Marian that question.
I asked Marian the same question yesterday when I saw her online at Yahoo Messenger but she did not respond so I merely transferred the question here.

Hopefully it will be available from www.jackjonesmusic.com
You can register at the moment, but it doesn't look as if it is available yet.

It wasn't a meant as a reprimand Terence-I was disappointed&disbelieving when my NYNY pal told me about it's limited availability, which I'm sure is a temporary one.

My copy should be here tomorrow(everything crossed)-my friends say it's superb!
I wonder if Jack will have Daughter Nicole with him in concert thus following Tony Bennett's current modus operandi, having HIS Daughter Antonia open for HIM in concert?

Nicole has sung on stage with Jack on several occasions Mark, but being still in school I don't think she would be able to tour with him or do anything similar, not at the moment anyway. Enjoy the CD.
