Have to confess that I've not watched this year, after watching my fave (Brenda) getting booted out quite early on last year. Leona does seem a a genuinely nice person, and has a smooth voice. I guess I just want someone to sing like Doris, Alma, Eydie, Peggy, Lena, Sarah, Ell, Julie, Petula - heck even Cilla! i.e. just sing a song out from the heart, without trying to sound like Whitney Houston or Celine Dionne!

You said it perfectly, Michael. I agree with you 100%. Leona may be sweet and nice, but there is nothing unique or special about her singing on A Moment Like This. It's cookie-cutter Mariah/Whitney.
That's why I can appreciate someone such as Nerina Pallot. She has her own style and knows how to sing properly.

Hello Mike, Paul & Marian
It's a very good point you've made about Leona, she is a Whitney clone.
I wasn't a fan of Leona's version of 'I Will Always Love You' as she sang it in an identical way to Whitney, and didn't try to make the song her own.
It was note perfect, don't get me wrong, but if I want to hear Whitney Houston I will put one of her records on.
I still think she is a better singer than Ray however, who (in my opinion - I must add that!) missed a lot of notes and 'searched' for them whilst singing - if that makes sense.
I did hear Leona's new single today, I thought it was very weak, really bland, but it will sell by the bucket load so what do I know!

Mark - I have to say that I do not think "My Way" is awful, on the contrary the song is "emotional". That is one of the reasons so many deceased people choose the song for funerals
Mike - If you want to hear a female singer who sings from the heart, just go a bit further back in time then you seem to go, and listen to Frances Langford

Hi Robert--I did really know who Mark Ramprakash is---
I was just being facetious
I heard Leona's single today--or maybe yesterday. There is nothing about it, that would make me want to buy it, download it, or in any other way listen to it again. Completely unforgettable as far as I am concerned.
But I have watched and listened to Ray singing "The way you look tonight" loads of times---I do not care if Leona is a "better" singer, or if Ray misses notes--I would much rather listen to him and his type of singing, than Leona and her type of singing.

Sorry,MY WAY is awful as is THAT'S LIFE.So many beautiful songs to chose from but not these two,NOR Ol'Macdonald,Everybody's Twisting and/or French Foreign Legion.Q.E.D.
I'm pleased though that deceased people can pick songs.
Up to this morning 200,000 downloads already of Leona's song-so they're ALL wrong?

I have to agree--I did not much like "That's Life".
I wonder if the result would have been different, if they had stuck to the original plans and sang a Christmas Song each at that stage.
I have to say that I thought Leona's duet with Take That ,and "A million Love Songs" was better than Ray and Westlife---Big, Big Mistake with that song.

Correction: Leona has sold 88,500 - 100,000 downloads thus far. 200,000 downloads is the prediction for the week. She will likely sell over 500,000 physical singles. People are buying it as stocking stuffers or a souvenir---not because it's a quality song and performance.
Her future success depends on how quickly she can break away from Simon Cowell and 19 Entertainment.

Mark, that is your opinion of the song "My Way"
but I am positive the majority of people agree with me regarding the song Mr Sinatra is most well known for singing
but I agree with you on "Thats Life" - a very ordinary song.
