Ultimate II & more

Post by Carl Shields » Fri Aug 26, 2005 1:51 am

Hi Michele,

I have a song request for the "Ultimate II" package.
I would love to see (and hear) a STEREO version of "One Day".
Your father's performance of this song is one of my favorite MM recording - maybe my favorite. The longing in his voice really gets to me, it's very moving.

Another request for possible future release are the Decca recordings.
Are they available on CD or any form at present?
They would be a welcomed addition.

Really looking forward to the Christmas album - can't wait!!!

Thank you for a wonderful and fun website.
All my best to you and your family.

MM - Then, Today and Forever.

'ONE DAY'

Post by Lee Wilkins » Fri Aug 26, 2005 10:29 am

Hi Carl

You may like to know that the stereo version of the song, One Day, appears on the CD, Complete Heart Breakers, released on the EMI label on 25 October 1996. This is still currently available (at a price) from MusicStack (http://www.musicstack.com/item/3194452/ ... eartbreake). An interesting point to note is that Matt's wording and vocal arrangement on the stereo version of the song varies slightly from that of the mono version.

Sadly, the CD, Matt 'n' Mel (Matt Monro and Mel Tormé), which featured all of Matt's Decca recordings (apart from the two 'missing' ones that, to my knowledge, have still never been heard to this day), no longer seems to be available.

One Day

Lee,

Thanks for the information on "One Day" and the Decca recordings.
With so many releases and re-releases of material it's hard to keep track.
I started collecting Matt on CD in 1995 but have been a fan since childhood (many, many years ago).
Very little if any of Matt's material is available in stores/shops here in the states except for the "Spolight on.." from Capitol released in '95 and that's hard to find.
Thank God for the internet!!

Thanks again.
