What Movies Have Been Playing On Your DVD/Video Lately?
Yes Harry and Lena--you bought back memories to me too. The trouble is in those days you could arrive halfway through the main film, with no idea of what is going on---then sit through the news, the cartoons, the "B" movie, before the film started again, so that you could then watch the beginning of the film and try to make sense of it !! Of course you could always stay and see the 2nd half again. I think some would be surprised that you would have to queue up outside---and queue up again inside till some seats were available !! I have to say it sounds crazy now---but of course nobody had a TV then!!
My Mum , my sister and I went regularly 3 times every week--to the Savoy, the Odeon, and the Gaumont--because they always had a different film on, and they changed every Monday. So as you can imagine--we saw lots and lots of films---especially if you include the " B " movies.
Sunday afternoon, they would always show a really old film, and I would go then with my friend---this was after I got too "Grown-up" to go to Saturday Morning Pictures at 6d a go !!

It Started With Revenge!
Watched Hannibal Rising on DVD tonight. Creepy and atmospheric. Great performance by Gong Li.

Yes L&H, it does contain interviews, but I haven't watched the "extras" yet. The main person in the DVD is of course Bob Hope, who founded the "entertainment troupe". Dinah Shore is very very young, but sings beautifully

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Finally sat down to watch VENUS. Peter O Toole's acting should have won him the Oscar as he showed off his acting chops magnificently. Vanessa Redgrave in a mere 3 scenes almost stole the show as his wife. However the object of his affection in this film is an obnoxious and not a particularly beautiful girl. What does he see in her?
Hi Marian & John
Isn't 'Don't lose your head' 'The Black Fingernail' French Revolution one.
If it is, it is one of my favourites of the Carry On Series, the one gag I remember from the movie is Joan Sims burping after sipping champagne and Kennth Williams pulling a face in disgust.
Joan Sims: "I can't help it, it's the bubbles, they get lodged in me chest"
Kenneth Williams: "Hmm, with a chest like that you've room for a few lodgers"

Hope I haven't offended anyone, but I really did laugh so hard when I was a kid at that joke, it's stayed in my memory!
