Don Black on Radio 2
Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Don said Matt has been "matchless" since way back then .........he then played Matts first hit the glorious #3 hit Portrait of My Love

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Listened to two weeks worth this morning have to say it's an excellent show

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
I see his playlist this Sunday includes Jack Jones, must be for his 80th!
On his show tonight Don played "matchless" Matt singing I Have Dreamed great song
....... but he has played it on numerous occasions

Indeed. The same applies with Johnny Mathis. Don always plays the usual old stuff . JM has recorded many songs that he never plays.

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Jon that seems to be the norm with every artist, when you thnk of the huge record library they have they should dig into it for a change instead of playing the same old songs, they rarely play any Dusty beyond the 60's. One would think the only record Sammy Davis ever made is The Candy Man!jon wrote:Indeed. The same applies with Johnny Mathis. Don always plays the usual old stuff . Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Don should know better, he was Matt's manager ! .............but I don't think he knows the MM estate have had all those recordings released over the past few years

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
He probably only has 1 CD for each artist. It helps keep his desk tidy.
Re: Don Black on Radio 2
You're probably right Mike, Don plays a lot of his Matt songs from Matt sings Hoagy Carmichael CDmike wrote:He probably only has 1 CD for each artist. It helps keep his desk tidy.

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Like tonight he played "matchless" Matt singing One Morning in May from the said Hoagy Carmichael CD...............I don't now if tonight's programme was a repeat but all of Don's anecdotes .........recalling song lyrics and watching Marjorie Morningstar as a child have been mentioned at least once or twice before

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Don played "matchless" Matt singing the great On Days Like These this week

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
Don used a new description for Matt tonight .............the "unforgettable" Matt singing Days of Wine and Roses

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"
I Can't Help But Cry, But I Must Go On"

Re: Don Black on Radio 2

"My Tears Will Fall Now That You're Gone,

Re: Don Black on Radio 2
I see Don also played Jack Jones singing Alfie and Dusty What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life, never heard that on radio before so I wonder if Don is the first to play it?
